Under two hours until the big game of the day in Manchester. To whet your appetite, here's some pundit build-up.

  2. HALF-TIMEpublished at 14:20 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2015

    Steve Wilson
BBC Match of the Day commentator at Upton Park

"Quite eventful. Sone Aluko made a really bright start and Hull have had the better chances and should really be in front, although West Ham did see Hull keeper Allan McGregor tip a header on to his bar."

  3. HALF-TIMEpublished at 14:20 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2015

There goes the whistle. West Ham have been shoddy, sloppy and scrappy.

Hull started brilliantly, and for a team with a centre-half on the right wing, a right winger on the left and a winger as a false nine up front, they've been excellent going forwards. Unfortunately, nobody told Sone Aluko he could shoot when clean through...

You have £10m to spend this month. Who would you sign to keep Hull - or one of their rivals at the bottom - in the Premier League?

Jack, Hull: I wonder if Barcelona would swap Sone Aluko and £10m for Neymar or Lionel Messi?

Ross, Kent: Someone please offer us £10m for either Emmanuel Adebayor or Roberto Soldado, I'll even drive them to your club! Although Daniel Levy would probably want £30m each for them!

Dan, London: As a Liverpool fan you can have Mario Balotelli for a can of pop and a chocolate bar.

  5. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 14:18 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2015

Maynor Figueroa comes on in James Chester's place. Still in added time as a result of that injury.

Into two minutes of added time. Not another injury for Hull? Surely! James Chester goes down holding his shoulder. Dislocation?

Chester makes his way off with his arm in a makeshift sling. Doesn't look good.

Alex Bruce is back with us, but he looks groggy, shanking a clearance out of play. One to take a look at over the break.

  8. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 14:11 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2015

West Ham do their version of the 'Bruno N'Gotty to Kevin Davies' free-kick and it earns them a corner. Hull make heavy weather of clearing it, the second cross comes in and Enner Valencia's header is juggled against the face of the crossbar!

In the midst of that Alex Bruce took a whack to the chops and needs some treatment. Ouch! He headed the back of team-mate Ahmed Elmohamady as he cleared the ball.

You have £10m to spend this month. Who would you sign to keep Hull - or one of their rivals at the bottom - in the Premier League?

Andrew McIntyre: Didn't Ronaldo announce he'd be willing to play again? Pick up Ronaldinho too and still have change.

Tommy Zammit: 10m on Yann Kermorgant would keep Hull up. Obviously he might be cheaper.

Piers Cottee-Jones: Kostas Mitroglou. The Greek god kept Fulham up and became a club legend. Would do the same for Hull. Oh wait...

It's just not clicking for the (Un)Happy Hammers today. More groans from the stands as Stewart Downing spins away from his man but then plays a pass behind the overlap of Carl Jenkinson. Very shoddy stuff from Big Sam's boys.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 14:04 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2015

Harsh booking for Hull wing-back Ahmed Elmohamady, who did all he could to get out of the way of Stewart Downing as he hurdled him. Elmohamady guilty of missing the game's best chance so far.

Ashley Williams: Hull need more players like Sone Aluko. He's putting chances on a plate and no one else can finish.

Terry Lambert: West Ham play well with Stewart Downing at the tip of the diamond. Sam Allardyce puts him on wing to accommodate Kevin Nolan. What is he on??

Conor McMeekin: Pity to see West Ham abandoning their passing game now that Andy Carroll is back!

  13. Postpublished at 14:01 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2015

Is it possible to be both the best - and worst - player on the pitch? If so, that particular award goes to Sone Aluko. He's having the game of his life, right up until he gets in the box. And then he's had a nightmare.

You have £10m to spend this month. Who would you sign to keep Hull - or one of their rivals at the bottom - in the Premier League?

Jaleel Oladipo: I would sign Obafemi Martins - a proven goal-scorer in Premier League and a nominee for MLS MVP in 2014.

Stephen McGill: Go for loan deals. You could get guys like Chris Smalling, Andros Townsend, Aaron Lennon and Joel Campbell easily.

Chris Georgiou: You can have Roberto Soldado for free if you want?

Who is this playing for Hull and what have they done with Sone Aluko? Magnificent feet again, spinning in from the right wing like a Humberside Arjen Robben, dancing past James Tomkins (that's four times now already) before attempting a one-two with Jake Livermore 10 yards out from goal and losing the ball.

Can someone get a memo out to him that he is allowed to shoot? How are Hull not ahead?

  16. Postpublished at 13:55 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2015

    Former Hull striker Peter Swan
    BBC Radio Humberside

"Sone Aluko was just trying to be perfect with everything he did there - he had already done the hard work but almost tried to walk it in instead of shooting past the keeper. West Ham haven't started at a good pace. It'll be hard for them to pick it up you'd think."

  17. CLOSE!published at 13:54 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2015

    Shoot! Shoot man!

So good from Sone Aluko as he once more beats James Tomkins with ease to skip into the box, but he has to pull the trigger. He waits, waits, waits - and then is tackled. He had so much time. Steve Bruce is tearing his hair out...

  18. YELLOW CARDpublished at 13:52 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2015

A very clumsy, late tackle from Mark Noble sees him into the book. He fairly clattered Tom Huddlestone in the shins. The early pace of the game is beginning to ebb away. Get Sone Aluko on the ball!

Can Hull get her registered in time for the second half?

Goalless after a quarter of an hour, but certainly not dull. Although a few home fans are sounding a tad restless.
