Spanish football expert Sam Marsden at Anoeta: "How are those nerves, David? You can feel the excitement in Anoeta now. Every time Messi gets the ball the 28,748 crowd hold their breath, every time he's dispossessed they cheer. Every clearance is met with huge relief. Unfortunately they've still got over 10 minutes to hold out.

"Messi and Neymar are more involved at last, forcing Real Sociedad further back than they would like, but there's plenty of space being left by Barca at the back. Can Carlos Vela and Co. take advantage of one of the many counter attacks they're getting and kill this game off?"

Luis Suarez's cross is headed clear by Carlos Martínez as Barcelona throw the proverbial kitchen sink at Real Sociedad. Some heroic defending going on out there.

Michael Ford:, external Griezmann and Mandzukic firing, the big two slipping up, there's no reason why Atleti can't make it 2 in a row.

Rian Hoskins:, external Barcelona have not played well but credit to Moyes. Not been the best start but he is making Sociedad tough to break down.

It just won't go in for Barcelona. Neymar looks certain to score but is denied by last-gasp defending before Luis Suarez's pull back misses its intended target. Desperate stuff from Sociedad now.

Lovely combination play between Neymar and Luis Suarez but the final ball from the latter is too heavy and another chance goes begging. What an atmosphere among the home fans with 20 minutes remaining.

Dani Alves is now on for Jeremy Mathieu and will play at right back with Martin Montoya moved into central defence.

Another good chance for Barcelona and another poor finish. Xavi side foots Jordi Alba's low cross straight at goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli from 10 yards. He has to do better.

Huge cheers from the home fans as referee Carlos del Cerro Grande takes a tumble.

Spanish football expert Sam Marsden at Anoeta: "Barca have played their aces, bringing on Lionel Messi and Neymar, but they look all over the place at the back and Real Sociedad can sense it. Jeremy Mathieu is lucky to still be on the pitch and if he gets caught out one more time the referee will have no choice but to hand him a second yellow card.

"It's La Real who are having the better chances and you get the feeling they'll need a second if they want the three points. Moyes can't stand still on the touchline. He's throwing his hands all over the place and dishing out orders; he's less than 30 minutes away from beating Barca."

So close to an equaliser. Lionel Messi plays a one-two with Neymar but, just as the Argentine prepares to pull the trigger inside the penalty area, the ball is taken away from him by Inigo Martinez. Brilliant defending.

Andres Iniesta picks the ball up 25 yards from goal but, after advancing a few yards, his rising shot is well over the bar. Story of the match so far for Barca.

  15. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:13 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2015

And with that in mind, here comes Neymar.

As Real Sociedad threaten again on a swift break, Luis Enrique has seen enough and orders the Brazilian to strip off. He is on for Pedro and will form a three-pronged attacked with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
