The home fans have found their voice after that goal. Everton try to respond as a ball from defence is pumped forward, but Kevin Mirallas is offside.
That's why their home record is so impressive - first chance, first goal for the hosts. Raphael Nuzzolo tees up Guillaume Hoarau on the edge of the area and, with no defenders closing him down, he curls a shot into the far corner.
Bryan Oviedo is being given lots of space on that left side, and seems keen to cross early. He sends the ball in again from out wide, picking out Romelu Lukaku, but the striker had just strayed offside.
The corner comes to nothing but Everton are quickly back on the attack as Bryan Oviedo attempts a cross, but it almost ends up being a freak goal as the ball smashes the outside of the post.
Under the lights, and on the artificial pitch, this looks like a massive game of five-a-side.
The ball definitely bounces a little differently on this surface than it does on grass but Everton have adapted well to it and have the first chance as Romelu Lukaku shoulders a cross towards goal, but Yvon Mvogo pushes it behind for a corner.
Everton get things under way. Can they move a step closer to some continental silverware?
Everton manager Roberto Martinez, speaking to ITV4: "The artificial pitch has affected the preparation because it's a different turf and the bounce of the ball is different. Back home, we trained on a similar surface for three days and yesterday we tested it again here. It shouldn't be an aspect of the game we worry about. It's about making sure how quickly we can be ourselves in this game.
"Young Boys are a really well-structured side with a terrific balance throughout the team. They want to win games. They go out to score goals. It's fair to say they are very good at what they do. The surface helps them in the way they want to play and they use that to their advantage. I saw them live against Grasshoppers last weekend and they are in a confident moment."
Out walk the two teams at a very lively Stade de Suisse, lots of yellow flags being waved by the home fans. Kick-off in our first Europa League last-32 games is a few minutes away.
Everton warm up in front of the travelling Evertonians - 3,700 have travelled over for this game.
Bolton boss Neil Lennon
Wednesday Night Club, 5 live Sport
"Everton have to be careful. The Europa League takes it out of you with all its Thursday night games. If you play in Switzerland on Thursday night then you won't get home until two in the morning. On Friday you can't do anything, Saturday is a recovery day then bang, it's matchday on Sunday. They just have to be careful, the Toffees, looking at their league position.
"It's all about recovery for your players, both mentally and physically. If they played on a Wednesday then I promise you, that extra day's rest makes you a 30% better player.
"And Everton aren't used to this, the intensity of European competition. And Everton are playing on a plastic pitch, too."

Some 3,700 Everton fans have made the trip to Bern for the game.
Some disturbing news from Rome where 22 Feyenoord fans have been arrested and eight charged ahead of tonight's clash with Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.
Hundreds of Feyenoord fans clashed with riot police at the Spanish Steps before the game. Police fired tear gas and tangled with fans, who left the square's Baroque fountain full of empty beer bottles.
Feyenoord "should make a public apology" and "pay for the damage" said Livio Ricciardelli, a member of the city government, who said that repairs to the fountain at the bottom of the Spanish Steps would be costly.
In one of the ties of the round Roma host Feyenoord in the first leg at the Stadio Olimpico, Torino welcome Athletic Bilbao while Napoli are on the banks of the Black Sea for their clash with Trabzonspor.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is not bothered about a congested fixture schedule, with his side playing Fiorentina in the first of six games in 17 days.
Spurs' schedule also includes the return leg against Fiorentina, the League Cup final against Chelsea on 1 March and three Premier League games.
"It's a good sign we are in all competitions. I am happy," says Pochettino. "All the squad are fit and we are in a very good way."
David Morgan: Fulham embraced it.Their philosophy was they were paid to play football so shouldn't complain of tiredness with more matches.
SpursBlood: Going far in the competition then getting knocked out is useless so it is an unnecessary annoyance. Rather no Europa at all.
