"I'm no doctor but, concerning midfielder Yohan Cabaye and Lucas Moura, it's a muscle injury. For Marquinhos, it's the hamstring. For Didier Aurier, the quadriceps", explained Laurent Blanc.

"They all are muscle injuries. I need to see the seriousness of it all but, for Tuesday's game, it's going to be very, very difficult to have them back."

So there you go. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is still fit though.

Job done. Hardly rip-roaring stuff in the Spanish capital. Gareth Bale produced a good first half, Isco was neat, tidy and confident - he opened the scoring.

Karim Benzema struck and end to the game with 17 minutes remaining. An efficient outing. A million miles from last weekend.

  10. Postpublished at 18:49 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2015

This would be clean sheet nine of the campaign for Los Blancos. Not a bad return in 23 games.

A four-point lead in La Liga is 90 seconds away. Marcelo is not coming back in, he has his boots off and walks around the pitch to applause. No severe hobble and he should be OK for Schalke.

  11. Postpublished at 18:47 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2015

What would these Real Madrid defenders have given for a clean sheet after last week's shambles? Varane chests back to Casillas. Three minutes from a shut out.

  12. OUCH!published at 18:45 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2015

A little bit naughty from Depor full-back Laure as he tangles with Marcelo when the ball is gone. A well disguised niggle and the Brazilian is hobbling. We have five minutes of added time. Marcelo would be wise to stay off and Carlo Ancelotti will be praying for no more knocks.

  13. GET INVOLVEDpublished at 18:44 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2015

Spanish football journalist Sid Lowe tweets:, external Benzema's off. his generosity, intelligence and effort disguises other players' lack of it.

  14. CLOSE!published at 18:42 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2015

Jese is on the field for a matter of second and gets to the dead ball line to slide and hook a ball into the box. Ronaldo, right place right time, scissor kicks a volley inches wide.

  15. Postpublished at 18:42 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2015

Karim Benzema makes way for Real Madrid as Jese comes on. Worryingly for Real - who are without the injured James Rodriguez - Benzema is hobbling a bit.

The Frenchman too his goal nicely. He was too quick to the ball for Depor keeper Fabricio and simply lifted it over him. It was the perfect time to score for Carlo Ancelotti's side as it ended this contest.

  16. CLOSE!published at 18:39 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2015

Gareth Bale finally gets Ronaldo off a free-kick. So what have you got Gareth?

Lots of movement on the ball but Fabricio watches it onto his fists in goal and the rebound is cleared.

  18. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 18:35 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2015

Ivan Cavaleiro takes one of the worst free-kicks you ever will see for Deportivo, sending a shot sailing over the bar like a conversion.

On comes Dani Carvajal for Real Madrid as Isco gets the hook to the bench. good night's work for him and Real should be in cruise control now with focus on Schalke and the Champions League this Wednesday.

Game over you would think now. A 12th league goal of the season for Karim Benzema should be enough to seal the job.

He takes it nicely, dinking Cristiano Ronaldo's pass over the on-rushing goalkeeper and the ball drops the right side of the post.

Looks simple. It looked like Ronaldo fancied it himself but he had no choice to pass with challenges looming.
