  1. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 18:27 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2015

I went a minute too early as Asier Illarramendi is taken off and it is a debut for Lucas Silva.

Some utterly useless information for you, he is the 22nd Brazilian to play for Real Madrid.

Silva joined from Brazilian side Cruzeiro for a reported £9.7m in January.

Not many sides will have as many shots as the hosts at the Bernabeu. Gareth Bale is forced to track the run of full-back Luisinho and holds off his challenge to allow the ball to roll for a goal kick. A shift being put in by Real here.

  4. Postpublished at 18:22 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2015

Marcelo senses his first goal of 2015. The Brazilian plays a neat exchange and holds off a challenge to break into the box but Manuel Pablo gives him just enough attention for the shot to be scuffed and it trickles into the hands of Fabricio.

Bayern Munich fans know all about the new bumper Premier League TV deal and want none of it in the German game if banners at today's game are anything to go by.

Woeful from Ronaldo. A free-kick from central gets the usual drama-filled run up. It troubles those in the cheap seats. Way over.

    Speaking of cheap seats...

  7. YELLOW CARDpublished at 18:16 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2015

Manuel Pablo - the man with a beast of a beard - is carded for a foul on Ronaldo and a lively protest. This is dangerous...free-kick...20 yards...

  8. Postpublished at 18:15 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2015

Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo appear to have switched flanks. The Welshman is now on the left.

The pair are not causing too much turmoil though in the second half. Isco has been touch perfect and he pulls a dangerous cross out of the air with a gorgeous touch on the edge of his own six-yard box. If only football were always that beautiful.

  9. Postpublished at 18:12 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2015

Real Madrid could do with killing the flow of this game for a moment or two because there are blue and white shirts willingly getting forward as Depor push.

Alex Bergantinos thumps one from range which needs a stinging block.

What has Victor Fernandez said to his side at the break. They sense blood.

  10. Depor not big on travelpublished at 18:09 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2015

Deportivo have just two wins away from home this season and have found the net only six times in their last 10 away league fixtures.

They may well look comfortable in 12th place in the table, but Levante in 18th are just five points behind.

But it is not all doom and gloom as they have two wins on the spin and Celso Borges - a Costa Rica midfielder many of you may remember from the World Cup - signed in mid-January. He just came within the width of a post from scoring his third goal in as many games.

  11. CLOSE!published at 18:08 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2015

Edgy, edgy, edgy Real Madrid. Laure forces a Deportivo corner and after it is initially cleared, the ball is swung back onto the mixer allowing Lucas Perez to volley. He smashes it into the ground and it can't be turned home by a team-mate who was flagged offside in the end.

  12. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 18:05 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2015

Deportivo are inches from being level as Celso Borges volleys against the post - Casillas didn't move - but the Spanish keeper produces a stunning save to keep out Oriol Riera's glancing header. A flurry of attacks and Madrid survive.

The header was a nice height for Casillas but he still showed superb athleticism.

  13. KICK-OFFpublished at 18:02 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2015

No changes in either side. Manuel Pablo leaves a bit on Ronaldo in an early challenge. Depor have a strange shape to their side as they look to contain Real in possession.

It is a back four but on times there is an extra body there as wingers get so deep.

  14. Postpublished at 17:58 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2015

Real Madrid, Champions League holders, return to the competition in the last-16 on Wednesday.

They face Schalke, so what does Carlo Ancelotti do here? Another goal and ring the changes?

The sides are coming back out and look unchanged.

  17. HALF-TIMEpublished at 17:46 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2015

As another Gareth Bale venture down the right sees his cross collected by Depor goalkeeper Fabricio, the referee calls time on the opening half.

Real started slowly, hit some pace halfway through, then tailed off a bit again. It is enough though and more goals look imminent.

Bale has been tip-top, Ronaldo in and out, while Isco's sublime strike deserves plenty of plaudits.

  18. SHOWBOATpublished at 17:44 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2015

Manuel Pablo, here is a ticket to get back in the ground.

The Depor captain sizes Ronaldo up as they stand off in the area and the Portuguese world Footballer of the Year shows his technology with what I think the youngsters call an 'elastico.'

He flicks the ball right then left with the same foot in one rapid movement, it nutmegs the defender and Ronaldo's cross is hastily cleared for a corner. Brilliant to watch.

  19. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 17:39 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2015

    Cristiano RonaldoImage source, Getty Images

Gareth Bale - like Red Rum down the right - dinks a ball into Ronaldo on the edge of the box. He takes a touch and goes down. Not given.

He knew a challenge was coming and like a Six Nations try hero, was already stooping to the turf before any contact. Looking for it. Not getting it.

  20. CLOSE!published at 17:37 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2015

Gareth Bale, once a left back early in his career, rampages up the right flank and clips a tantalising ball which just needs a header. It arrives, Ronaldo, over. The super athlete could not quite get high enough to get over the ball.
