Celtic go into the match in excellent form but they have been dealt a blow with the news Kris Commons is out due to a hamstring injury.

Inter have had a poor season by their high standards but the appointment of Roberto Mancini for his second spell in charge seems to now be having the desired impact. They have won their last two Serie A matches - 4-1 at Atalanta and 3-0 at home to Palermo - and are now 10th in the table.

European nights at Celtic Park this season have lacked the sparkling intensity of recent seasons - the Europa League will do that. But this evening feels different. The prospect of facing a genuine European giant - albeit a slightly diminished one - has increased the sense of anticipation about the stadium and it could be reminiscent of a big Champions League night.

Italian legend and one-time Dundee striker Fabrizio Ravanelli spoke to our colleagues on BBC Radio Scotland earlier about tonight's game...

"Inter Milan is confident in this moment. They have won their last two games and played very well. It is a good quality team but sometimes they do not defend very well. I'm sure they will do very well.

"When [Roberto] Mancini arrived at Inter it was very difficult for him, but now his work on the pitch is working.

"When you are a coach at Inter, every competition is very important. It is important that he gets them to the final.

"Celtic is a very good club and a good team but the players at Inter are very good quality at this moment. It will be very hard for Celtic."

Celtic's finest hour came against Inter Milan in Lisbon back in 1967 when goals from Tommy Gemmell and Stevie Chalmers won Jock Stein's side the European Cup - the first British side to lay their hands on the famous trophy.

It's a huge night for Ronny Deila's Celtic side as their run of excellent form - wining eight games on the spin - is put to the test against the Italian giants.
