  1. Manager reactionpublished at 21:35 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2015

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers: "We are disappointed of course to go out in the manner we did.

"We created opportunities in the first half to make it difficult for them.

"I am proud of the team and (there was) a fantastic atmosphere we really appreciate.

"But we are disappointed having put so much into the game."

Into the last 20 minutes at Goodison Park. Luke Garbutt swings in another peach of a cross, magic ball in and there's just nobody there to convert.

  3. Feyenoord incidentpublished at 21:31 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2015

Some more info on the incident at Feyenoord v Roma. It looks like Roma forward Gervinho took offence at some chanting aimed at him from a section of the crowd, Roma skipper Francesco Totti got involved, the referee spoke to both managers and took the players off.

As I type they are coming back out but there could be heavy sanctions to follow if there was any serious wrongdoing.

  4. Match suspendedpublished at 21:27 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2015

An interesting if particularly vague update from elsewhere, as play has been suspended in the tie between Feyenoord and Roma - I'll give you more info when we have it.

Arouna Kone sees a glimpse of goal from a smart ball into his feet, a low shot is on target and it's well saved by Marco Wolfli.

  6. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:22 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2015

I'm not one to condone fans leaving a game early but if ever there was one game to do it, it's this. Absolutely dead in the water this tie. Nothing much going on.

Everton make a change as James McCarthy is switched for Muhamed Besic.

  7. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:18 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2015

Marco Burki comes on for Young Boys, wearing the 93 shirt. I'm just not having that, there must be a spare number lower down the scale. It's not the NFL. Come on.

It's still all to play for at San Mames. Andoni Iraola got a goal back for hosts Athletic Bilbao before Maxi Lopez restored Torino's lead to make it 2-1 on the night and 4-3 on aggregate to the Italians.

Meanwhile, Adem Ljajic has grabbed a vital away goal for Roma at Feyenoord to make it 1-0 in Rotterdam. The Italians lead 2-1 on aggregate and will be eager to avoid extra-time with a top of the table Serie A clash with Juventus on Monday.

  9. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:14 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2015

Almost four as Kevin Mirallas hares down the left, cuts inside, does keeper Marco Wolfli with 'the eyes' and puts it in at the near post.

Wolfli dives the wrong way but snakes out a toe and somehow kicks it up over the crossbar. Fine save!

Apologies to Zenit, who I missed off my list of sides who have already qualified. They are through. Some testing trips ahead for Everton whoever they draw.

  11. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:09 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2015

Romelu Lukaku is replaced, holding his hamstring, as Arouna Kone comes on. I wonder why they didn't make that change at the break...

Ken Gorry:, external I'll never knock a player for stepping up to take a penalty. It's the ones that didn't I'd look at.

Johnny Magrinho:, external So Lovren is the chosen scapegoat? Not Rodgers or any of the other 10 players? He had guts to take that pen - who else offered?

Mickey Somiah:, external The only thing that hurt is the player who missed. Wouldn't have minded Sterling missing but for Lovren to miss is painful.

Javel Bleach:, external Peno takers should be decided by the boss according to quality in training. Players shouldn't have to worry about stepping up.

Sir Benoit D'Loose:, external Lovren should've been behind Rodgers in penalty taking order.

Henri Colens:, external Bitterly disappointed! Not with Liverpool loss, more having to play extra time. Good luck to Besiktas who deserve to go through.

Tom Proffitt:, external Why would you ever let Lovren take a penalty when we have an African Cup of Nations penalty taker - Kolo Toure.

I've heard good things about Everton left-back Luke Garbutt - and his cross for the second goal tonight was absolutely top drawer. He waited, didn't panic and picked out Romelu Lukaku with a wonderful ball.

  18. Postpublished at 20:56 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2015

Steven Naismith and Romelu Lukaku are both one yellow card away from a suspension, will Roberto Martinez bring them off at the break? Arouna Kone needs some game time and is on the bench.

  19. Postpublished at 20:53 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2015

Poor old Dejan Lovren, he's taking a smashing on social media. Maybe he wasn't the wisest choice to go last - but someone's got to. You'd presume that he at least offered.

Dave, Manchester: Why do central defenders always take penalties in shootouts? The players who generally have the least technical ability and the fewest shots/chances in a match. Were they not watching when he skied his cross 15 mins earlier?

Ben, Taunton: Why on earth was Lovren chosen ahead of Sterling and Moreno for penalty duty?! Just awful. But we got what we deserved for an appalling performance.

Jake, Cambridge: Liverpool attempting to thread a final ball tonight has resembled a drunk man trying to play pin the tail on the donkey.
