Vicente Iborra's first goal in the Europa League this season gave defending champions Sevilla a 1-0 home win

Elsewhere around Europe, in the 18:00 GMT kick-offs, Dutch champions Ajax take a 1-0 lead to Legia Warsaw thanks to Arkadiusz Milik's first-half strike at the Amsterdam ArenA, but the hosts were lucky to hold on to the lead against the Polish side.

Vicente Iborra's goal in Spain has given last year's winners Sevilla a 1-0 edge going into the away leg at German side Borussia Monchengladbach, but Unai Emery's side have suffered a dip in form recently.

Fellow Spaniards Villarreal, semi-finalists in 2011, take a narrow advantage to Salzburg after a 2-1 win at the Estadio el Madrigal but FC Red Bull have what could prove to be a crucial away goal thanks to Jonathan's penalty.

John Guidetti is given the responsibility of leading Celtic's attack at the San Siro after coming on as a substitute to score the late equaliser in last Thursday's first leg, which ended 3-3. Adam Matthews replaces Efe Ambrose at right-back.

Celtic XI: Gordon; Matthews, Denayer, van Dijk, Izaguirre; Brown, Bitton; Mackay-Steven, Johansen, Armstrong; Guidetti

Nemanja Vidic, Mo Salah, Demba Ba, Micah Richards, Borja Valero, Lukas Podolski, Alberto Aquilani - there are a whole host of former Premier League players coming up against British opposition tonight.

But if you could see one former Prem player back in the English top flight next season - who would it be, and why?

Obviously Cristiano Ronaldo. He goes without saying. But who else? The more personal the reason, the better.

Mine would probably be Rafael van der Vaart. He was class.

With a Champions League place on the table, you'd expect Tottenham to be going full gun for the Europa League. However, they play Chelsea in the League Cup final. On Sunday.

Not ideal scheduling. Not ideal at all. It's a pretty strong line-up from Spurs tonight though. Would fans have wanted to see Christian Eriksen rested?

I am contractually obliged to recall that night in Istanbul 10 years ago.

Liverpool return this evening to the scene of their incredible Champions League triumph in 2005, when they came from 3-0 down to beat AC Milan.

If tonight's game is 8% as exciting or memorable we'll do well.

    Tottenham

With the League Cup final against Chelsea looming on Sunday, Mauricio Pochettino keeps Harry Kane, Ryan Mason and Danny Rose on the bench, but there are starts for Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela and Roberto Soldado.

Tottenham XI: Lloris; Chiriches, Fazio, Vertonghen, Davies; Bentaleb, Stambouli; Chadli, Eriksen, Lamela; Soldado.

Subs: Vorm, Rose, Walker, Mason, Paulinho, Townsend, Kane.

Mario Balotelli starts tonight. He stole the headlines in the first leg with his late penalty winner at Anfield.

But taking a one-goal lead to Turkey is likely to lead to a nervy evening for Reds fans. It's not like they've squeaked a result at the Ataturk Stadium before though...

Demba Ba has recovered from the calf problem that forced him to miss of Sunday's 1-0 defeat at Eskisehirspor to lead the Besiktas attack, while former Chelsea youth winger Gokhan Tore is over the ankle knock that kept him out at the weekend. Daniel Opare comes in at left-back with Ramon Motta suspended, while Necip Uysal and Pedro Franco form the centre-back partnership as Ersan Gulum is banned.

Besiktas XI: Gonen; Kurtulus, Franco, Uysal, Opare; Hutchinson, Kavlak; Tore, Sosa, Sahan; Ba.
