Neil Stone:, external The race for 4th. ie scramble for an average league position to get the chance to fail in Europe again next season.
The destination of the Premier League title looks to be a straight shootout between Chelsea and Manchester City but the race for the top four and a Champions League spot is anything but sorted.
Southampton get the opportunity to steal a march on those teams above them this evening, with Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal not in action until tomorrow.
Don't rule out seventh-placed Tottenham either who, just two points behind the Saints, will also look to pounce on any slip tomorrow evening.

Ronald Koeman makes two changes to his Saints side as Dusan Tadic drops to the bench and is replaced by Serb Filip Djuricic. Eljero Elia comes in for Florin Gardos. Southampton XI: Forster, Clyne, Fonte, Yoshida, Bertrand, Wanyama, Schneiderlin, Djuricic, Elia, Mane, Pelle.
Crystal Palace XI: Speroni, Kelly, Delaney, Dann, Ward, McArthur, Ledley, Zaha, Puncheon, Bolasie, Gayle.
That is easier said than done.
Visiting St Mary's this evening are an in-form Crystal Palace - totally transformed since the arrival of Alan Pardew as manager in January.
The ex-Newcastle boss has overseen four wins and 13 points from seven games, with the Eagles only managing three wins in 20 games before he took charge.
Pardew has won all five of his away matches and will have his eyes on a Premier League top 10 finish.
Southampton you have been warned.
They have won just once and scored one goal in the last five Premier League matches.
It is five hours and four minutes since they last found the net at St Mary's.
Southampton though are still just four points off the Champions League pace. A win tonight and the dream will very much be back on.
