Bristol City defender Derrick Williams told BBC Radio Bristol: "It doesn't get much better than that, especially at Wembley - it's where everyone's dreams are.

"We kept passing the ball well in certain areas to try and draw them out and I thought we did well with that.

"I'm buzzing that we got the win because that is the most important thing."

Walsall defender Ben Purkiss told BBC WM 95.6: "It was a fantastic occasion for the football club but it doesn't feel like it right now.

"It was a big achievement to get here but they are a decent side and once they went 1-0 up it was difficult for us.

"The support we had was amazing but I'm just sorry that we couldn't experience a win."

You can imagine tonight's going to be a pretty decent night for the Bristol City players, but the runaway League One leaders can't go too wild, they've got a home game against play-off hopefuls Barnsley next Saturday to prepare for.

Still, the whole team is dancing in front of photographers desperate for a great shot for tomorrow's newspapers.

Who do you reckon in the Bristol City camp bought those dodgy wigs that so many of the players are wearing? The assistant in the store must have wondered what was going on.

In stark contrast, the Bristol City players could not get there any faster! And it's left to club captain Wade Elliott and today's captain Aaron Wilbraham to lift the coveted trophy for a record-breaking the third time in their history.

Stereophonics then blasts out of the speakers at Wembley. Whatever happened to 'We are the Champions'? Bristol City fans and players alike probably can't hear that right now though.

BBC Sport's Caroline Chapman at Wembley: "There's a positive atmosphere at both ends of the ground. The Bristol City fans swing their red scarves around their heads with glee, as goalscorer Mark Little jumps into the crowd and is swamped by selfie-grabbers. The Walsall fans then rise to their feet to congratulate their players, the history boys."

BBC West Midlands social media editor John Bray at Wembley: "Walsall head up to the Royal Box. They look just like a team that loved reaching Wembley, but know they didn't really deliver on the big stage.

"Last man up, manager Dean Smith - a man universally respected in West Midlands football circles. He's done a fantastic job to get the Saddlers to Wembley for the first time in their 127-year history.

"But he will be acutely aware that after today the focus has to be on League One - a very tight division where Walsall currently sit an uncomfortable four points above the relegation zone."

The long trudge up the Wembley steps for losing side Walsall beckons. That must be a terrible feeling after a hard game.

They had to wait 127 years to get to Wembley, but just came up against stronger opponents. I'm sure their day will come again, but today belongs to Bristol City.

Bristol City goalkeeper Frankie Fielding told BBC Radio Bristol: "We had a game plan, we stuck to it and it came off.

"Jordan Cook's cross nearly caught me out - those are the fine margins and it went for us today.

"We knew Walsall were dangerous but thankfully we got the two goals I think we deserved."

Man of the match Mark Little somehow sticks on a red and white wig almost immediately. Where has he been keeping that all game?!

The smiles of the Bristol City players could stretch from Wembley to Ashton Gate, and there is even a familiar face in the back of a team photo.

Fulham striker Matt Smith, who scored all five goals in their semi-final win over Gillingham while on loan with the Robins, is looking rather dapper and on the pitch with his old team-mates.

  13. Postpublished at 17:28 Greenwich Mean Time 22 March 2015

Goalscorer Aden Flint told BBC Radio Bristol: "We will enjoy today but at the start of the season we set out to win this cup and the league. Now we have got to go back to the league."

There it is, the moment that Bristol City fans have been waiting for! Referee Mick Russell blows the final whistle and Wembley erupts with the noise of west country accents. Those from the West Midlands will have enjoyed their first trip to Wembley, but in truth, they were no match for their opponents.

Is this the first trophy of the season for runaway League One leaders Bristol City?

Bristol City are just knocking this around like it's a training game. It's pretty much game over. The party is just getting started in the Robins' end.

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas almost capitalises on a Walsall mistake but keeper Richard O'Donnell does well to clear. It's not looking good for the Saddlers.

    Added time is four minutes.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 17:20 Greenwich Mean Time 22 March 2015

This is fast becoming a substitution live text. Wade Elliott, scorer of Burnley's goal at Wembley in 2009, comes on for Luke Freeman. Don't worry, there are no more subs left.

  18. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 17:19 Greenwich Mean Time 22 March 2015

Steve Cotterill knows what he's doing. He winds the clock down even further by bringing the enigmatic Jay Emmanuel-Thomas on for Kieran Agard, who has terrorised the Saddlers' defence today.

  19. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 17:17 Greenwich Mean Time 22 March 2015

A first substitute for Bristol City, with Greg Cunningham replacing Joe Bryan, the Football League's young player of the month for February. You can read more about the Bristol-born, Bristol-bred wing-back here. And soon after Mark Little has the chance to play into the middle, but miscues a cross straight into the keeper's hands.
