James, Giffnock: Goal difference does matter: if we lose 1-0 to Republic of Ireland in Dublin and are level on points then it's down to goal difference. Also 6th place result is only discarded if you finish third in the group.

You can't argue with the result, particularly as Germany only took four off this Gibraltar side, but that was far from the best performance by a Gordon Strachan side in recent times.

There was a lack of fluidity about the passing, but it's very much a case of 'job done' with the game against the Republic of Ireland in Dublin in June now looming large for Scotland as they try to get to France 2016.

We do have a hat-trick hero! Steven Fletcher does nab his third of the afternoon - all after a six-year international drought - as he arrows a shot into the bottom corner following great work by Jordan Rhodes.

That's a first hat-trick for a Scotland player since... Colin Stein way back in 1969.

    Take a bow Mr Fletcher!

James, Giffnock: I think seven goals is par against Gibraltar. Anything less is failure. Scotland more than any team should know how goal difference can cost you. Let's get a move on here.
