The scoreline is already looking very emphatic but it perhaps a disguises a rather lacklustre first half performance from the Scots, albeit against a dogged Gibraltar side, who only began to buckle towards the end of that period. They do though have their first competitive goal, which their coach David Wilson admitted yesterday was a landmark he'd love to achieve at Hampden.
There are plenty in dark blue who haven't performed to their capabilities in what was for long spells a ponderous display. But it's hard to argue with a three-goal cushion.
Group D rivals and world champions Germany are 2-0 up away to Georgia. Marco Reus and Thomas Muller on target.
Scotland have restored some order after seeing Gibraltar score their first-ever competitive goal. Gordon Strachan's men trot up the tunnel with a three-goal cushion and the half-time orange will taste a little sweeter after those four goals.
Will Strachan persevere with the three-man rearguard?
Mike Langan: That's more like it!

That makes it easy street for Scotland...
A fourth goal for Scotland before the break as Ikechi Anya dances down the left before his low cross is swept home by the unmarked Steven Naismith. Much more like it from the hosts, who are beginning to motor...
Steven Fletcher is in the mood for more goals after ending his six-year drought; he stabs an effort beyond Gibraltar keeper Jamie Robba but is denied by the post. Scotland beginning to warm to the task now but, defensively, they still look vulnerable.
Les from Hamilton: Typical Scotland? I can go back to the 70s when our superstars couldn't beat Zaire?? It happens all the time our over paid stars can't handle the pressure. This is a pub team we should not be losing goals to the likes of these guys.
Relief sweeps down from the Hampden stands as Shaun Maloney drills home his second penalty of the game to give Scotland a two-goal cushion. Breathing space for Gordon Strachan's men.
Another penalty for Scotland... Steven Naismith tumbles under Lee Casciaro's challenge. Mmmmm; not sure about that one.
Steven Fletcher ends his six-year international goal drought, guiding a header beyond the despairing clutch of Jamie Robba after a mix-up in the Gibraltar defence. Fletcher roars his joy/relief at finding the net and firing Scotland back in front.

That Gibraltar equaliser has flattened what had momentarily threatened to be a sense of anticipation around Hampden as Scotland finally made the breakthrough. The visiting fans though are euphoric at witnessing their first competitive goal. They sliced right through Scotland's reduced defensive unit and policeman Lee Casciaro finished in some style.

Anya has been asked to play in a position he's not used to. Anya hasn't dealt with it particularly well. It's because of the system they're playing it's happened.
You can't let it affect you; you've got to get on with the job in hand.
Steven Naismith spurns a great chance to see Scotland retake the lead as the home fans inside stadium become more fractious with what they're seeing.
Gibraltar are causing the Scots' three-man defence problems.
Hang on a minute. The visitors, still licking their wounds from that penalty, break up the pitch and equalise through policeman Lee Casciaro. The 1,000-strong pocket of Gibraltar fans are in dreamland; Scotland's players look dejectedly to the turf...
Scotland's three-man defence are ripped apart as Casciaro guides a cracking shot beyond the diving David Marshall.
Scotland take the lead in controversial circumstances as Shaun Maloney takes a tumble under Jamie Robba's challenge. Maloney dusts himself down and fires the ball home.
