Penalty for Scotland!
Scotland respond and Matt Richie spurns a great chance inside the area with a low shot that dribbles into the arms of Jamie Robba. Groans from the Scotland fans: they're not overly impressed with the opening 15 minutes.
Liam Walker uses his opportunity to shine under the Hampden sun, spinning impressively on the edge of the area before dragging his shot well wide of David Marshall's goal.
There's a deafening hush over Hampden...
The visitors threaten again, this time through Priestley but Scotland's combative Scott Brown is able to snuff out the danger.
This wasn't in the script was it?
Gibraltar set the cat amongst the pigeons as a cross from Chipolina is clawed away from goal by David Marshall. The visitors have their tails up; Gordon Strachan looks on, unimpressed by Scotland's sluggish start.
Is BBC Sportsound pundit Willie Miller happy with Scotland's start? "Not particularly," he says.
Miller wants to see the ball played forward more quickly...
The sun comes out just in time to see Gibraltar goalkeeper Jamie Robba make a mess of a backpass - It's A Knockout-style - fluffing his clearance to increase the nerves in the visiting ranks. Corner for Scotland but they fail to profit.
It remains goalless as Gordon Strachan's side pound away at the Rock of Gibraltar.
BBC Sportsound pundit Billy Dodds
Scotland are finding space and they just have to take their chances when they come along.
Andy Robertson gets forward before delivering a great ball onto the head of Steven Fletcher. The Sunderland marksman gets his effort on target but Robba is equal to it.
Scotland come racing out of the traps as the boys in blue attack Gibraltar from the off. The visitors in white, have formed a protective wall around goalkeeper Jamie Robba.
About 35,000 fans inside Hampden for this Euro 2016 qualifier. And we're under way!
The rain clears long enough to get the national anthems done and dusted; pipers and a couple of bearded drummers who could've wandered in off the set of Game of Thrones...
Kick off not too far away.
Fergie, Aberdeen: Considering he played in the match I'm surprised Willie Miller hasn't mentioned when we beat Yugoslavia 6-1 in 1984!!
Stewart Murdoch, Banchory: Strachan proving he's Anti-Aberdeen again. Mark Reynolds is twice the player of Gordon Greer. Scott Brown over Fletcher? Won't be back at Hampden watching Scotland anytime soon.
James in Giffnock: could we be witnessing history at Hampden today versus Gibraltar. Is Scotland's 11-0 win over Ireland in 1901 under threat. Surely not...
James Deason: I'm going for 6-0 Scotland.
Anthony Craig: There'll be 8 for Scotland.
Darren Kelly: Predicting a Scotland win - 5-1.
Poor Chick "Chico" Young is describing an almost Biblical downpour at Hampden; sounds more like T in the Park than a Euro 2016 qualifier.
Get some plastic ponchos down there, pronto...
"It took the Gibraltar Football Association 16 years to be granted Uefa membership, during which time the national team played the likes of Shetland, Sark and Orkney in the Island Games," writes BBC Scotland's Richard Wilson.
"They even faced Hibernian in a pre-season friendly two years ago, which they lost.
"Time spent in the foothills of the game hardened resolve. Progress was hard-fought, and when the team lined up for the national anthem ahead of its first internationally recognised fixture, against Slovakia, the players and the supporters wept.
"Only one member of the regular squad is a senior professional - Scott Wiseman, the Preston North End defender - while two play non-league in England - Bristol Rovers winger Jake Gosling and Adam Priestley, the Farsley striker.
"The rest combine ordinary lives with their football careers.
"Jordan Perez, the goalkeeper, is a firefighter; the Chipolina brothers, Joseph and Ryan, are an admin clerk and a customs officer respectively; two of the three Casciaros, Ryan and Lee, are policemen, while the third, Kyle, is a shipping agent..."

The weather in Glasgow can't make its mind up this Sunday afternoon: sunshine has been replaced by angry black clouds that delivered torrential rain over Hampden. The ball will be fizzing about the surface and, no doubt, prove difficult for both goalkeepers.
Jamie Robba will be aiming to stem the tide of goals finding the Gibraltar net: 21 goals conceded in four games makes for eye-watering reading...

I think Gordon Strachan has caught everyone by surprise with today's team selection. Many people were predicting he'd play two up front but I'm not sure anyone suggested he might only play one central defender.
One thing's for sure, this will be no reckless gamble from the Scotland manager. His fastidious preparation means this will be a calculated move and hopefully one that will pay off in the shape of a big win.
