  1. MATCH ABANDONEDpublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

Match abandoned at Blackpool as home fans show no signs of ending their protest on the centre circle.

A group of fans poured onto the pitch just after half time in protest against the club owners, the Oyston family. They have been the target of fans' anger throughout a dismal season, during which Blackpool have been relegated to League One.

No update yet as to when the game will be replayed - if it will.

"Some supporters are witnessing their team's season petering out to a tame conclusion, but Sunderland fans would be delighted for the opportunity for a completely pressure-free mid-table finish.

"Since their promotion in 2007, the Black Cats have spent most of the subsequent eight years flirting with relegation, with last season's late turnaround their most dramatic escape so far.

"Hull City's midweek win against Liverpool has exacerbated their predicament, with Advocaat stating that at least six further points will be required to maintain their top-flight status.

"The other, Southampton, will have viewed the result at the KC Stadium very differently to Sunderland, as it has enhanced their opportunity to secure European football next season and complete a record-breaking campaign in style."

  3. TEAM NEWSpublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

Sunderland winger Adam Johnson returns to the squad the first time since being charged with three counts of sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl.

The England international has not featured since the Black Cats' 4-1 home defeat by Crystal Palace on 11 April but is on the bench.

Injured striker Steve Fletcher misses out again for Dick Advocaat's side.

Southampton's Morgan Schneiderlin is out because of a knee injury but fellow midfielder Victor Wanyama returns following suspension and Shane Long is recalled up front.

Sunderland XI: Pantilimon, Jones, van Aanholt, Cattermole, Larsson, Wickham, Gomez, O'Shea, Graham, Coates, Defoe.

Southampton XI: K. Davis, Clyne, Fonte, Yoshida, Bertrand, Alderweireld, Wanyama, Ward-Prowse, Long, Mane, Pelle.

"Timing is everything - and both Aston Villa are Everton are arguably in their best form of the season.

"Only a week or so ago it looked as though one more win might do it for Villa - but the continuing revival of Hull and Leicester has pushed up the estimated points tally for what should equate to safety.

"The Blues have finished in the top eight for each of the last eight seasons, and it's just about feasible that they could squeeze into that group again - 16 points from the last 18 available have been a timely reminder of what Everton are capable of."

  5. TEAM NEWSpublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given makes his first Premier League appearance since August 2012 - which also came against Everton. The other change for the hosts is Charles N'Zogbia for Carlos Sanchez

Forward Steven Naismith makes his first league start since Stoke on 4 March as Everton make two changes. Kevin Mirallas also comes in as Leon Osman and Ross Barkley make way.

Aston Villa XI: Given, Bacuna, Vlaar, Okore, Richardson, Westwood, Cleverley, Delph, N'Zogbia, Grealish, Benteke.

Everton XI: Howard, Baines, Jagielka, Stones, Coleman, Barry, McCarthy, Mirallas, Naismith, Lennon, Lukaku.

"Here we have two clubs who have largely gone under the radar this season.

"That lack of attention and recognition comes with the territory. That territory is mid-table anonymity. And for those who love these clubs dearly, it is a price that's definitely worth paying.

"Realistically neither are likely to be challenging for titles or places in Europe. Their aim back in August was to avoid being dragged into the relegation issue."

  7. TEAM NEWSpublished at 14:26 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

Swansea manager Garry Monk makes one change from the 3-2 win against Newcastle, with left-back Neil Taylor returning from a two-match suspension in place of Jordi Amat.

Stoke make four changes from last weekend's 1-1 draw against Sunderland, with goalkeeper Jack Butland, right-back Phil Bardsley, centre-back Marc Wilson and midfielder Glenn Whelan replacing Asmir Begovic, Geoff Cameron, Philipp Wollscheid and Stephen Ireland.

Swansea XI: Fabianski, Rangel, Williams, Fernandez, Taylor, Cork, Shelvey, Dyer, Sigurdsson, Montero, Oliveira.

Stoke XI: Butland, Bardsley, Shawcross, Wilson, Pieters, N'Zonzi, Adam, Walters, Whelan, Arnautovic, Diouf.

"Liverpool are limping to the finish line. Expectancy levels were too high in the first place. The transfer of Luis Suarez and injury to Daniel Sturridge proved too damaging.

"Bad signings have been made. Mario Balotelli has been a disaster, but there is a deeper malaise. The team just doesn't seem ruthless enough to stretch that extra inch for glory.

"QPR fans won't agree of course, but even the diehards must know that escape now is but a dream. They could need three more wins from their final four games. Three of those matches are away.

"They've triumphed on their travels just twice this season and only once, ever, at Anfield - 24 years ago."

  9. TEAM NEWSpublished at 14:25 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

Liverpool make three changes to the side that lost to Hull. Steven Gerrard returns to captain the side, and replaces Joe Allen. Forward Adam Lallana is in the starting XI for the first time since 22 March. The midfielder comes in to take the place of Jordon Ibe. And Rickie Lambert replaces Mario Balotelli.

QPR make one change for as midfielder Leroy Fer replaces striker Bobby Zamora.

Liverpool XI: Mignolet, Can, Skrtel, Lovren, Johnson, Gerrard, Henderson, Lallana, Sterling, Coutinho, Lambert.

QPR XI: Green, Onuoha, Dunne, Caulker, Hill, Phillips, Barton, Sandro, Henry, Fer, Austin

Luke Joy: Bournemouth absolutely deserved to be top of the tree, most enjoyable team to watch by far.

Peter Ratcliffe: Can't help thinking how badly Bournemouth will be pronounced on US TV. Middlesbrough will win play-offs to make it worse.

The Foxes will move up to 16th if they keep hold of their current 3-0 lead over 10-man Newcastle, a point behind the Magpies and four points clear of safety.

So there we have it. Derby, losers in last season's play-off final, miss out on the top six.

Bournemouth win the title - and boy are they celebrating - with Watford also promoted to the Premier League.

Norwich will face Ipswich in an East Anglia derby in a play-off semi final, while Middlesbrough face Brentford in the other semi.

Heart breaking for Wolves who were pipped to sixth by Ipswich by four goals.

BBC Sport's Kalika Mehta at Vicarage Road: "Despite the disappointment of missing out on the title the jubilant Watford fans have come in their thousands onto the Vicarage Road pitch.

"The hosts were made to rue their many missed first-half opportunities but there is an overall sense and feeling of joy at securing promotion."

  16. '35 points is the target'published at 14:13 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

    BBC Sport pundit Robbie Savage

"I think there are seven teams involved at the bottom and, looking at the table, 35 points should be enough to stay up.

"That is good news for Newcastle because, despite their terrible form, they have that many already.

    John CarverImage source, Reuters

"By my reckoning, a point would make absolutely certain of safety for the Magpies - but at the moment it is hard to know where that would come from.

"John Carver's side are in freefall after losing their last seven games and to stay up they might have to rely on three of the six teams below them failing to catch them."

    Former Derby midfielder Craig Ramage
BBC Radio 5 live sports extra at the iPro Stadium

"This is sad to see, Will Hughes is in tears. This will hurt the players but they have not been good enough over the past few weeks. This was probably one of their worst performances of the season and when there was so much at stake. Reading weren't made to sweat."

Tom Lowe: Newcastle need to spend £50 million in the summer, more like a £100 million investment. That squad is horrific. It'll never happen.

David Ljunggren: I've watched Newcastle for 30 years and of all the lows I've seen, this must be the worst. Going down might help us rebuild.
