  1. League Two updatepublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

Luton need a huge victory and hope Plymouth lose to squeeze into the play-offs. The Hatters have started brightly with Mark Cullen putting them 1-0 ahead against Stevenage, although it could be in vain as Plymouth are still winning by the same scoreline at Shrewsbury.

Phil Brown's promotion-chasing Southend side have equalised at Morecambe after Jack Payne's goal. That makes it 1-1, although the Shrimpers need a win to be certain of going up.

A Stuart Beavon header has put Burton 1-0 in front for the potential League Two champions in their away game at Cambridge.

"Christian Benteke is an animal in the air - but as a defender you know that from the start and the marking on the cross is poor. You have to set yourself up to be favourite every times the ball comes in the box with this player. At the moment nobody can get near him though."

Matty Taylor was in the headlines for all the wrong reasons last weekend and he has another embarrassing moment as the Burnley man tries to cross in and ends up on his backside with the ball behind him.

    We've all done it.

Nine goals in his last eight Premier League appearances for Christian Benteke. What a striker.

A hush falls upon the Stadium of Light as news of Aston Villa's opener filters through. As results stand, Sunderland are three points adrift of safety.

They are doing little to trouble Southampton thus far.

    Benteke celebratesImage source, PA

Since minute one the Villa gameplan has been to find Christian Benteke at will. It works too.

Fabian Delph puts in an early cross from wide on the left, an excelent one for Benteke to attack, and he makes mincemeat out of Leighton Baines to climb well above him and head into the net.

Early Swansea pressure. Sloppy Stoke defending gives Nathan Dyer the chance to cross towards Nelson Oliveira, but Ryan Shawcross gets in front of the striker to head behind for a corner, which the visitors deal with comfortably enough.

Swansea and Stoke are eighth and ninth respectively.

  8. Manager reactionpublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

Leicester boss Nigel Pearson: "We have to give our supporters something to believe in. You want to see your team give a totally committed performance. We've not always got that 100% right but there's a recognition our players are totally committed to our season. The fans have helped us negotiate our way through tough times. And they've seen progression.

"With a couple of months to go our season was in danger of not happening as we'd like. But we've kept our destiny in our hands. "We've given ourselves a good chance but we need to keep an eye on what we do day to day in training. Goal difference will be important - days like today help."

On his opposite number: "Someone of John Carver's integrity has to try to find solutions that are proving difficult to solve. I used to work with a lot of their coaches at Newcastle - it's a fabulous club. I feel for him - he cares so much about the club. It's never easy to find solutions in that situation but you've got a better chance if you have people who have a feel for the club. They still have more points than us. They've still got work to do but so do we."

  10. League Two updatepublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

Burton appear to be heading for the League Two title as Bobby Reid has put Plymouth ahead against second-placed Shrewsbury. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's side are guaranteed the title if Shrewsbury do not win. A victory would seal Plymouth's place in the play-offs.

Worrying times for Southend. A win takes them up. But they are 1-0 down after four minutes thanks to Jack Redshaw's 12th goal of the season for Morecambe.

  11. CLOSE!published at 15:08 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

It's been all QPR in a lively start as centre-half Steven Caulker hooks a shot wide from eight yards. Liverpool struggling to deal with set-pieces in the early stages.

First effort on goal for Sunderland and it doesn't trouble Kelvin Davis. A corner from the left is swung over to the far post but Billy Jones' downward header is into the Southampton stopper's hands. Sunderland have won just one of their last 10 league matches

Plenty of empty seats at the Stadium of Light. The Black Cats start the day in the relegation zone and you can sense the nerves around the place. Slow start from the hosts.

Jonny Gilchrist: As a Liverpool fan who goes home and away to most games that banner is just embarrassing. Short sighted. Not the Liverpool way.

Michael Powell: Those flying with the banner aren't supporters, just pathetic attention seekers.

  17. League Two previewpublished at 15:02 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

It could be another great day for Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. In his first managerial role, he has already guided Burton to promotion and they will be League Two champions today if they win at Cambridge.

Shrewsbury, who also guaranteed promotion, will have a chance of taking the title if they win at home to play-off hopefuls Plymouth and Burton slip up.

Phil Brown's Southend will take the third automatic promotion spot if they win at Morecambe. If they don't, Bury and Wycombe could still be celebrating. Luton have an outside chance of making the play-offs but need to thrash Stevenage and hope Plymouth suffer a heavy loss.

At the bottom, Tranmere and Cheltenham are both already down and they end their time in the Football League at home to Bury and away at AFC Wimbledon respectively.

"Garry Monk has got everybody on his side and because he was in the dressing room not so long ago he knows how the players tick. They want to play for him. Swansea have done so well this season because they play so well as a team."

A huge roar from the Sunderland fans as they call for their players to pressure Southampton early on. Saints having all the off the ball early on.

  20. DISALLOWED GOAL for QPRpublished at 15:01 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

What a bizarre set of events! QPR win a corner, Matty Phillips takes it and totally duffs his connection. The ball skids on to the near post where Simon Mignolet makes a hash of dealing with it and Leroy Fer bundles in at the Kop End!

However, the ball had gone out of play before curling back in. No goal.
