Contrasting fortunes for two teams that are still in danger of going down. Stoke's Charlie Adam has equalised against Sunderland to make it 1-1, while Newcastle lead 1-0 against Swansea thanks to an Ayoze Perez close-range finish.

On Charlie Austin's penalty miss: "Austin went for power and that's the nerves telling. If you go down the middle you always need to go high because the keepers dangle their legs behind when they dive - that's what happened here."

How costly is that Austin penalty miss going to be? That's his second penalty miss of the season.

No! Disaster for Charlie Austin. He smashes his spot-kick hard down the middle, but Adrian dives to his right and blocks the effort with his legs.

James Collins handball. Charlie Austin to take it. It was a clear handball, the defender stuck his arm up as Bobby Zamora prodded the ball goalwards and referee Mike Jones points to the spot.

Another corner for West Ham, and another one that QPR deal with comfortably. The Hammers have had a lot of the ball, but not really done too much with it.

Some nifty footwork sees Enner Valencia nip past veteran defender Richard Dunne and get to the byeline. But Steven Caulker is well placed to send the ball for a corner, which the Hammers instantly waste.

Little inspiration so far from either side. The only real chance we have had was Sandro's first-minute shot which was blocked by Adrian. The home fans are in good voice though. They realise the importance of this match.

Maybe the pitch will help us see some goals today. A number of players, including Rangers goalkeeper Robert Green, have lost their footing on the surface.

A half-chance for QPR and it falls to Joey Barton. West Ham fail to clear a long throw and the ball falls to the one-time England midfielder, but he can't control his half-volley as the ball sails harmlessly over the top.

Good strong defending from QPR's Nedum Onuoha as he muscles Enner Valencia off the ball with a shoulder charge. Robert Green still has not had much to do in the QPR goal.

The corner comes to nothing, but West Ham are quickly back in the penalty area. Stewart Downing has the ball by the byeline, but an excellently-timed challenge from Sandro wipes out the danger. He had to time his sliding challenge. And he did. Perfectly. Good defending fom Sandro.

Corner to West Ham. Stewart Downing trots over.

An early goal at the Britannia Stadium. And it is good news for one of QPR's relegation rivals as Connor Wickham has put Sunderland 1-0 up at Stoke.

  18. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:02 British Summer Time 25 April 2015

Nearly a start to dream of for QPR. A quick breakaway, led by Matt Phillips sees the ball fed to Sandro, the midfielder pings one at goal from a tight angle but West Ham goalkeeper Adrian gets down to his near post to deflect the ball to safety.
