Come on - you have to hit the target! Malaga waste a glorious opportunity as Sergi Darder shanks wide of the Madrid goal with a left-foot shot from 10 yards out. Great play by rapid full-back Arthur Boka created the opportunity, as did a woeful clearance from Marcelo. Will they have a better sniff?

Oh dear, Marcos Angeleri will not want to watch this one on the Spanish version of Match of the Day. The Malaga defender - who once had an undistinguished spell at Sunderland I believe - is totally kippered by Cristiano Ronaldo's quick body and mind. The Ballon d'Or winner is almost bundled off the boat by Angeleri before dragging the ball back and flicking it between his opponent's legs. One for the showboat reel.

PSV have restored their two-goal cushion against Heerenveen and it's that man Luuk De Jong again. It's a simple header at the back post from Jetro Willems' cross - the seventh time he has set up a goal for De Jong.

Another minute, another Madrid chance. Home substitute Javier Hernandez belies his size to outjump the Malaga defence again - although he is helped by more slack marking - but cannot keep his header down.

Real Madrid are waking up now. Carlos Kameni is needed by Malaga to drop sharpish to his right and push out James Rodriguez's stinging half-volley from 15 yards. Cracking save.

Malaga furiously appealed for an offside flag to be waved in the direction of Sergio Ramos after the opener - and they could be right. It is a very tight call, part of Ramos's body seems to be ahead of the Malaga line, but not much.

Two goals from Derrick Luckassen helped fourth-placed AZ beat ADO Den Haag 3-1. Nemanja Gudelj was also on target for AZ, while Wilson Eduardo had equalised for ADO.

AZ's last six Eredivisie games have produced a total of 31 goals (5.17 per game on average).

Ah, Malaga were holding their own. That was until they decide to leave Sergio Ramos - one of the world's finest goalscoring defenders - unmarked at a free-kick. The Spain centre-back ghosts into the six-yard box to volley in Cristiano Ronaldo's inswinging free-kick from near the left touchline.

No drama - Marcelo appears to be fine. That's good news for Madrid, who play city rivals Atletico in the Champions League on Wednesday remember. Back to tonight, and there is little goalmouth action to report. Malaga more than holding their own.

This is not going to plan for Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid. After Gareth Bale limped off earlier (see 19:05), left-back Marcelo is now down injured. The Brazil international seems to have hurt his thigh after flying into a block...

  11. GREAT SAVE!published at 19:19 British Summer Time 18 April 2015

Now it is Real Madrid's turn to go close to opening the scoring. James Rodriguez whips in an inviting free-kick from the left, which Javier Hernandez gratefully accepts. The little Mexican outjumps the Malaga defence to head goalwards, but Malaga keeper Carlos Kameni springs into action to acrobatically tip over the bar.

  12. CLOSE!published at 19:16 British Summer Time 18 April 2015

Malaga are fancying this one! The seventh-placed side could - and perhaps should - have taken the lead inside the Bernabeu. Some slack marking from an away corner allows a Malaga head to sneak in at the far post and nod back into the danger zone. But a dark shirt cannot turn the ball goalwards. Let off for the home side...

Hang on. Better tell the trophy-engraver to hold off for a bit. Heerenveen have pulled a goal back through Joey van den Berg, so if PSV thought they were going to be allowed to cruise towards the title, they were mistaken.

Madrid keeper Iker Casillas feels leather on his gloves for the first time tonight. The veteran Spain international has to be lively on his toes to push over Nordin Amrabat's fierce drive.

First opportunity of the match falls to Malaga. on-loan Galatasaray midfielder Nordin Amrabat uses his brute strength to barge Pepe - no shrinking violet himself - off the ball and then cut back towards team-mate Samu Castillejo. But he cannot strike the ball cleanly and test Madrid keeper Iker Casillas.

Bale's enforced withdrawal has not stopped Madrid dominating possession, but it has ruined their gameplan. Javier Hernandez goes straight up front, with Cristiano Ronaldo seemingly dropping a little deeper. Madrid are yet to test the palms of Malaga keeper Carlos Kameni yet.

  19. Bale substitutedpublished at 19:06 British Summer Time 18 April 2015

Off goes Gareth Bale, straight down the Bernabeu tunnel with less than five minutes on the clock. He is replaced by Manchester United loanee Javier Hernandez, who netted in last weekend's 3-0 win over Eibar.

Gareth Bale, grimacing in pain, is clutching the back of his left calf. Cristiano Ronaldo crouches down next to his team-mate, showing genuine concern as he asks the Welshman what the problem is. Bale's shift is over before it has barely started.
