Maybe a Premier League club should make a move for him. Someone like Newcastle could do worse...

Well, that didn't take Jong. PSV, needing a win to seal the title, lead against Heerenveen thanks to Luuk de Jong's third-minute strike. Fire up the open-top bus.

Think about a Real Madrid without long-serving keeper Iker Casillas. It's hard isn't it? Of course, the day when the 34-year-old waves goodbye will arrive in the not-too-distant future - but it won't be this summer.

That's what Los Merengues manager Carlo Ancelotti insists anyway. And the Italian says he expects to remain at the Bernabeu along with Casillas next season.

Spain international Casillas's future has been the subject of intense speculation - as has Ancelotti's.

"Next season I see myself here with Casillas and all of the players who are doing well with Real Madrid," said the former Chelsea boss, whose contract expires at the end of next season.

Defending champions Atletico hang on to to take three points with a win against Deportivo. Antoine Griezmann's double - his first a smart overhead kick - is enough for victory, despite Oriol Riera's late consolation for the hosts. Third-placed Atleti are four points behind Real Madrid, while Depor slip into the bottom three. They have not won in their last 10 matches.

Anyway, more of that lot later - back to the Bernabeu now. And Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is fully aware of the threat posed by seventh-placed visitors Malaga.

"Malaga played very well against Atletico (last week), performing with a lot of intensity and quality," says the Italian. "They beat Barcelona at home and we need to focus on this match in order to win it."

  11. Elsewhere around Europepublished at 18:48 British Summer Time 18 April 2015

While we will be focusing on the action at the Santiago Bernabeu tonight, there are two other title-defining games taking place in mainland Europe.

Dutch leaders PSV Eindhoven will clinch their 22nd Eredivisie title if they beat Heerenveen at the Philips Stadion - and that match has just kicked off.

A little later on, it is first v second in Italy as Juventus host Lazio at 19:45 BST. But it would be misleading to define Serie A as 'title race' - defending champions Juve are a whopping 12 points clear of their nearest rivals.

So, with eight matches left to play, a home win will put the Old Lady within touching distance of a third straight title.

  12. Barca pile pressure on Madridpublished at 18:42 British Summer Time 18 April 2015

So how do Madrid find themselves five points adrift of La Liga leaders Barcelona? Because Luis Enrique's team beat Valencia in a 2-0 home win earlier today.

Lionel Messi scored his 400th goal for Barcelona, after in-form Luis Suarez netted after 55 seconds, to take all three points.

But it wasn't that straight forward - Barca needed keeper Claudio Bravo to save a Valencia penalty when the score was still 1-0.

And if you didn't believe Carlo Ancelotti's full undivided attention was focused on this game, then take a look at the Madrid teamsheet. Almost full-strength for Los Merengues, who are only missing France striker Karim Benzema through injury. That means Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez all start.

Real Madrid XI: Casillas, Arbeloa, Pepe, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Kroos, Modric, Rodriguez, Isco, Bale, Ronaldo.

"We have to put all of our energy into this game."

Real Madrid may have a midweek Champions League quarter-final against Atletico Madrid coming up, but manager Carlo Ancelotti knows the Spanish giants cannot take their eye off the ball tonight. But has the Italian hammered home the message to his players?

Any dropped points against Malaga will be catastrophic to Madrid's hopes of regaining La Liga from their neighbours. Ancelotti's side start the match five points behind leaders Barcelona.

The Santiago Bernabeu is an imposing place. From the iconic sign, to the corridors full of trophies, to the narrow fenced tunnel, to the steep stands packed with 90,000 Madristas, it is a stadium which can strike fear into the hearts of many opposing players.

But Malaga, who beat Barcelona on their own Nou Camp patch in February, have proved they are a team inspired by the big occasion. Can they claim another mighty scalp and boost Barca's title bid?
