Another bad-tempered challenge. This time goalscorer Bradford Jamieson clatters Chris Duvall but no card for the LA Galaxy man.
Plenty of Red Bulls pressure but the hosts are lacking cutting edge. They're also giving the ball away far too easily.
Is New York Red Bulls' unbeaten start to the season about the finish? We're back under way.
This is not a thriller. Both teams could only muster one chance on target each in the opening 45 minutes although the Red Bulls did have 61% of the possession.
I'm not sure Steven Gerrard is still awake at this time. But if he was watching that first half then he is almost certainly feeling sleepy now. Pretty tame stuff from both teams but LA Galaxy have the lead thanks to Bradford Jamieson.
One minute of added time.
Former Leeds player Lloyd Sam ripples Galaxy's side netting from an angle. It's going to require something better than that to worry Bruce Arena's team.
If only the Red Bulls had Galaxy's cutting edge...Stefan Ishizaki's chip into the penalty are causes panic and Alan Gordon is sent flying as he attempts an effort. So close for the visitors.
Plenty of pressure from Red Bulls, who have had the bulk of the player, but there's absolutely no end product. Kemar Lawrence has a cross put behind for a corner. It comes to nothing. And still the band plays on.
Long distance shot by Galaxy's Stefan Ishizaki which takes out an advertising hoarding.
This is getting a bit tetchy. Red Bulls defender Matt Miazga is booked for an ugly challenge on Alan Gordon which leaves the long-haired Galaxy striker withering in agony.
Big chance for Red Bulls. Chris Duvall bursts into the Galaxy penalty area and sets up a chance for Bradley Wright-Phillips. But the striker dithers on the ball too long and the danger is cleared.
Lots of trumpets and drums inside the Red Bulls Arena. It's adding to the carnival atmosphere but the hosts have work to do. Bradley Wright-Phillips is at the heart of their best moves but is finiding it hard going.
Good response by the Red Bulls since falling behind. It's not exactly Premier League pace. More Championship.
Galaxy forward Gyasi Zardes is booked in what is a bruising encounter. Felipe whips the free-kick into the danger area but Jaime Penedo punches it away. Lloyd Sam sends in a rebound but Galaxy just about manage to clear.
So close to an equaliser. Bradley Wright-Phillips, allowed space and time in the box, looks certain to score from close range after Sacha Kljestan's cross but Jaime Penedo makes a terrific save from point blank range.
Bulls eye! The Red Bulls start well but are stunned as USA Under-20 international Bradford Jamieson skins Chris Duvall before a wonderful composed low finish. Steven Gerrard will have been proud of that. His new team are ahead.
Remember Bradley Wright-Phillips? His Premier League days might be behind him but the 30-year-old won the MLS Golden Boot in 2014 after scoring 27 goals for the Red Bulls. He's made a decent start in this game.
Lots of empty seats in the 25,000 venue but the atmosphere is good. There's a band inside the ground and they are making a heck of a lot of noise.
No Robbie Keane for LA Galaxy. The skipper has a groin injury and is not risked. There is a strong Leeds United connection, however, in the shape of former Elland Road players Lloyd Sam, who lines up for Red Bulls, and Galaxy's Robbie Rogers.
