And that final whistle could well signal the end of Burnley's stint in the Premier League. It's such a shame that it has come with a bit of a whimper today, but the Clarets were up against it from the 24th minute, when Michael Duff was dismissed for tripping Cheikhou Kouyatein in the area. Mark Noble's subsequent penalty was the difference maker.

Burnley now have some intent. But the long ball forward is dealt with and Ben Mee is forced into hacking down a marauding Stewart Downing.

Nene and Carlton Cole have been enthusiastically received by the Hammers support. Nene almost wriggles in on goal but is cut out. And then Cheikhou Kouyate hits a drive from 20 yards, which Jason Shackell nods off the line.

The chances are piling up for the home side. James Collins hooks over from a corner. It's quite disheartening to see Burnley unable to give this a real go.

Carl Jenkinson stretches his legs down the right side, not for the first time today. He has linked up with Stewart Downing to excellent effect. Burnley clear, but Carlton Cole finds himself with another tasty opening, but hits his shot straight at Tom Heaton.

In fact, when the chances do come, they are falling to West Ham. Carlton Cole, who has just come on for Enner Valencia, nods over a Stewart Downing cross. He should have done better.

Unfortunately for Burnley, this is drifting away. And that's no criticism of their effort. This has just been an impossible ask with 10 men.

The game has lost its zip, with West Ham prodding away with slow, patient build-up. Burnley briefly win it back, but Danny Ings is an isolated figure and watches the ball drift over his head.

Burnley need something. Anything. As it stands, they're just about keeping their heads above water, but West Ham keep coming and coming for that all important second goal.

Mark Noble's cross goes all the way to the back post and finds Reece Burke. Kieran Trippier is on hand to block the shot six yards out. Burnley are unable to find a way to put sustained pressure on the Hammers.

West Ham come close. Kevin Nolan's poked ball through finds Morgan Amalfitano, and the Frenchman drifts an effort wide.
