Oh dear Michael Duff. He's brought down Cheikhou Kouyate in the box and not only is it a penalty, it's a red card for the defender.

Sean Dyche must be pretty happy with how his side have settled into this one. But still no goal? Where is it going to come from?

Burnley are really starting to cause some problems now. Matty Taylor's cross from the left is met by the diving head of Danny Ings, but he sends up rather than down, and it goes over the bar.

A first sight of goal for Burnley, and it's their top scorer Danny Ings. The striker manages to squeeze in a shot from a tight angle but it zips wide.

And they immediately follow that up with another opening, as Ben Mee's cross is inches away from finding the head of Ashley Barnes.

Elsewhere, things are not looking good for Burnley. Aston Villa have gone 1-0 up against Everton, thanks to Christian Benteke, meaning as it stands the Clarets are seven points from safety.

Stewart Downing's cross is nodded behind by Kieran Tripper, possibly unnecessarily. The subsequent corner causes a bit of bother, but Kevin Nolan can't twist his body enough to guide a header on target.

  7. Postpublished at 15:10 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

A few cheeky cheers from the West Ham faithful as Matty Taylor hilariously falls over while trying to chase down a ball. The Burnley man is a former Hammer, of course.

Apart from that Enner Valencia chance, we've not seen much action in the opening period. The Hammers have seen a bit of the ball out wide, and Stewart Downing puts in a cross from the right, but it's too deep.

Carlton Cole is warming up vigorously, but he won't be needed for the time being. Valencia s back on the pitch, but is moving some what gingerly.

Enner Valencia is now in a bit of trouble. It's not his pride that is hurt though, it seems to be his knee. The Ecuadorian has banged into Jason Shackell and is receiving treatment. He might have to go off...

And a chance straight off the bat for West Ham. Aaron Cresswell swings in a ball from the left, it's right across the face of goal and Enner Valencia only needs to get a stud on it - but fails to do so.

  12. KICK-OFFpublished at 15:01 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

And we're away, with Danny Ings marginally caught offside in the first few seconds. Hammers keeper Adrian pumps forward the free-kick but it's long and out for a goal kick.

Before we start, their is a wonderfully observed applause for Rio Ferdinand's wife Rebecca Ellison, who has died of cancer. Rio, of course, started his career with the Hammers.

That stat below tells you all you need to know about why Burnley are where they are. Danny Ings, with nine for the season, has not scored in his last nine. Goals are like gold dust for the Clarets.

Can they change that today? 'I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles' is ringing out across Upton Park and the teams are shaking hands.

It's all smiles before kick-off at Upton Park. And surely this season hasn't been that bad, has it Hammers fans? There might be a few grumpy faces if Sam Allardyce doesn't get a result today I guess - they've only won one of their last 12.

BBC Match of the Day commentator

"Forget "No, Nay, Never"*, for Burnley it's NOW or never for getting the points they need to stay in the Premier League - or they'll "play B****** Rovers" again sooner than they'd like to.

"Five points away from safety, the Clarets are more than likely looking at a minimum of three wins from their remaining four games to stay up - a tall order for a team that have only won five of 34 this season.

"With Sam Allardyce having set a target (of sorts) of 50 points and a ninth-place finish to represent "progress" this season, his West Ham team need to re-focus for the run-in - not least to help the position of a boss Stewart Downing says the players "love playing for".

So, is Big Sam the man to continue at Upton Park? Can he win you over Hammers fans?

And can Burnley pull themselves to safety?

  20. Bad to worse for Burnleypublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

Before the day started, Burnley were five points adrift of safety. But things are getting worse for Sean Dyche's men.

Leicester City have beaten Newcastle 3-0. That means the Clarets are six points below 17th-placed Aston Villa, who host Everton.

Anything but a win today would make it very bleak for the men from Lancashire.
