    Premier League

So Burnley will play in the Championship next season and QPR will join them if they lose to Manchester City on Sunday.

After that it's one team from five, with Hull, Newcastle, Sunderland, Leicester and Aston Villa all in the mix.

That's everything from me - see all the reaction (if it is not too painful) in our main live text commentary. See ya!

  2. Win is too little too late - Ings

    Hull 0-1 Burnley

Burnley matchwinner Danny Ings: "The lads showed unbelievable fight and spirit today. I thought we were phenomenal and were on top from start to finish - but it has come a little too late. The lads have fought until the end - and I'm extremely proud of them. Now we are going to play the last two games with pride and hope to finish strongly."

  3. BURNLEY RELEGATED

    Hull 0-1 Burnley

The full-time whistles have been blown at Newcastle, Aston Villa and Leicester. All three have avoided defeat meaning Burnley's relegation back to the Championship is confirmed - despite them winning for the first time in seven matches.

  4. Post update

    Hull 0-1 Burnley

Burnley manager Sean Dyche and his players enthusiastically clap their appreciation towards a very vocal away end at the KC Stadium. The home fans slope out silently.

  5. FULL-TIME

    Hull 0-1 Burnley

All over - Burnley win at bottom three rivals Hull. But they are still on the verge of relegation from the Premier League. Newcastle are still drawing, Aston Villa and Leicester are still winning.

  6. Post update

    Hull 0-1 Burnley

    Steve Bruce

In comes the free-kick. Players from both sides jump for the ball. A Hull head makes contact. The ball flies towards the Burnley goal...wide.

  7. Post update

    Hull 0-1 Burnley

Hull win a free-kick close to the left touchline - the big lads from the back steam forward. The Tigers could be drinking in the last chance saloon here...

  8. Post update

    Hull 0-1 Burnley

Hull keeper Steve Harper scampers into life as he takes a quick goal-kick - that is not the end Hull want to see the ball.

  9. INJURY TIME

    Hull 0-1 Burnley

    Scott Arfield

Four minutes of stoppage time at the KC Stadium. As it stands Burnley are going down - and they could be taking Hull with them.

  10. Post update

Pinball in the Burnley box before Clarets defender Michael Duff emerges with the ball at his feet. Then he boots clear as Hull are denied again.

Now now James. No need to gloat....

  14. Post update

    Hull 0-1 Burnley

Hull are continuing to toil, David Meyler's cross from the right is headed clear by Burnley defender Michael Duff. Meanwhile, West Brom are continuing to attack at Newcastle. Magpies keeper Tim Krul saving from Saido Berahino. Don't give up yet Burnley fans...

Mark J, Writtle: Cheer up Hull fans - you've got Spurs next week. Guaranteed three points as the Spurs back four will no doubt be flicking through travel brochures during the game.

  16. Post update

    Hull 0-1 Burnley

Virtual silence inside the KC Stadium now. Both sets of fans know their teams are deep in trouble. Unless another goal comes quickly...

  17. Post update

    Hull 0-1 Burnley

Ten minutes for Burnley to stop themselves slipping back into the Championship today. Ten minutes for either West Brom or West Ham to stop Burnley slipping back into the Championship today.

  18. Post update

    Hull 0-1 Burnley

Another Burnley chance falls to Danny Ings. Well, I say chance - more half chance. Ings tries an ambitious half-volley from distance and the ball ends up nearer the corner flag than the corner of the net.

  19. Post update

    Hull 0-1 Burnley

So it might well be too little too late for Burnley - but they are still pressing. Danny Ings beats dozing Tigers skipper Michael Dawson to a through ball, but luckily for the hosts, keeper Steve Harper is alert to race out and gather.

Jay: Sunderland get two deflected goals. Hull denied by the crossbar twice. Talk about fine margins in the relegation dogfight.

  21. Post update

    Hull 0-1 Burnley

Remember me saying that Burnley needed a favour from West Brom or West Ham? Well, they nearly got that help from the Baggies. Chris Brunt thumps the Newcastle woodwork with the sides level. If Newcastle or Aston Villa, who are winning 1-0 against the Hammers, don't lose then Burnley are down today regardless if they win or not.

  22. HITS THE WOODWORK

    Hull 0-1 Burnley

Can you believe it?! Steve Bruce can't. Robbie Brady sweetly strikes the free-kick again, but the crossbar comes to Burnley's rescue again. Brucie shakes his head in disbelief.

  23. Post update

    Hull 0-1 Burnley

Hull free-kick. About 25 yards out. Robbie Brady, who struck the woodwork from a similar position in the first half, stands over the ball. Danger....

  24. Post update

    Hull 0-1 Burnley

Burnley have the ball in the Hull net! But I'm afraid, Clarets fans, it was never going to count. Ashley Barnes brings out his inner Nat Lofthouse, bulldozing both the ball and keeper into the goal as he challenges Steve Harper for a high ball.

Wale Ibraheem: Oh dear! Tigers are in serious trouble! Burnley will go down so will QPR. Hull and Newcastle will battle for the last spot.

  26. CLOSE!

    Hull 0-1 Burnley

    Tom Huddlestone

And Hull substitute Abel Hernandez does almost make an immediate impression. The quick-thinking Uruguayan backheels a loose ball bobbling in the Burnley box - but it is straight at away keeper Tom Heaton. Unlucky.

  27. SUBSTITUTION

    Hull 0-1 Burnley

All the noise inside the KC Stadium is coming out of the away end. They still believe. But it is out of their team's hands now - Burnley need a favour from West Brom or West Ham now.

Another Hull change - their third and final switch. On comes record signing striker Abel Hernandez for Sone Aluko. Now would be the time to start paying back some of that £10m fee...

  28. Post update

    Hull 0-1 Burnley

    BBC Final Score

Former England striker James Beattie on BBC Final Score: "That's 10 goals this season for Danny Ings. The Burnley fans would have been hoping it would be nearer 15 or 17, but double figures is still a decent season."

  29. As it stands

    Prem

Sorry Burnley fans, you are still down as things stand.

If Leicester City win against Southampton and Newcastle United avoid defeat by West Bromwich Albion, while Aston Villa do not lose to West Ham, it doesn't matter what the Clarets do. They will be relegated.

  30. Post update

    Hull 0-1 Burnley

Here's what that Burnley goal means. The Clarets are still going down today as it stands. It also means that Hull are a further point adrift of safety - two behind fourth-bottom Newcastle, in fact.

  31. GOAL

Hull 0-1 Burnley - Danny Ings

    Danny Ings

Big goal! Danny Ings has not scored for 10 matches - what a time to end that run. The striker swoops on a loose ball inside the Hull penalty area to fire into the bottom corner. Burnley delight, Hull woe.

  32. Post update

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

Still Hull attack as Nikica Jelavic sees action for the first time. His cross finds Sone Aluko, but Ben Mee blocks the forward's shot. That came moments after David Meyler's low cross was headed clear by Jason Shackell. Solid defending from the visitors.

  33. Post update

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

"Come on City, come on City!" That's the roar from the home fans as their team pushes forward.

  34. SUBSTITUTION

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

No messing about from Hull boss Steve Bruce. He goes for a double change. On comes striker Nikica Jelavic for defender Paul McShane, while midfielder David Meyler replaces Jake Livermore. Hull are going for the jugular....

  35. Post update

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

    Sean Dyche and Steve Bruce

But the delivery is too strong as a Burnley head flicks the ball out for another corner. Another poor delivery! Dear, oh dear. Robbie Brady can't pick out a Hull team-mate as the away side clear.

  36. Post update

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

Hull survive - for the time being at least - and manage to steer the ball away from their goal. The home side go back up the other end and force their sixth corner of the game...

  37. PENALTY APPEAL

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

    Ashley Barnes

Penalty? Burnley striker Danny Ings thinks so. Referee Martin Atkinson thinks otherwise. Ings goes tumbling over a cluster of bodies in the Hull penalty area - but was it a Tigers defender or team-mate Ashley Barnes who hauled him down? Tricky one - but I think it might have been the former. Atkinson waves play on as the ball breaks to Scott Arfield, who sees a Hull defender block his low effort.

  38. Post update

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

Burnley know they have got to go on the attack - and that's what they are doing. Matt Taylor precisely crosses into the Hull six-yard box, but a stooping Ashley Barnes cannot stick his forehead on the ball. If he had then it would have been a goal.

  39. Post update

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

Tom Huddlestone's skimmer is Hull's first shot on target - unless you count Robbie Brady's first-half free-kick which hit the bar of course...

    Robbie Brady
  40. Post update

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

Chances at either end. Burnley striker Ashley Barnes's improvised overhead kick lacks power to trouble Hull's ageing keeper Steve Harper, who trudges across goal to see the ball go wide. Then his opposite number Tom Heaton has to be alert to gather Tom Huddlestone's low shot.

  41. Post update

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

Burnley carelessly give away possession as Hull threaten down the right flank. But Sone Aluko cannot meet Ahmed Elmohamady's cross and Burnley's defence clear.

  42. KICK-OFF

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

    Robert Brady

No changes for either side as Hull go straight on the attack...

  43. Post update

  45. Clarets to Europe?

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

    Fairplay table

They may be on the verge of heading down but the Clarets could find themselves in Europe next campaign.

West Ham, Everton or Burnley could play in next season's Europa League after the Premier League was granted an extra place because of fair play.

England finished second in Uefa's Fair Play table, earning an extra spot in the first qualifying round. That place will go to the team that tops the Premier League's fair play rankings, which is currently Liverpool.

The Reds could reach Europe via their league placing so the second, third or fifth-placed teams could join them.

  46. Post update

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

    Guy Mowbray

BBC Match of the Day commentator

"It is the same old story for Burnley, they are creating chances but not taking their chances. And Hull arguably have had better chances. It has been quite open and I think it will be more open after the break. Burnley have got to go for it. But that will leave it even more open for Hull to catch them on the break. If Hull score there will be no way back for Burnley."

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

However, a Burnley goal might still prove irrelevant. As it stands, even a win at the KC Stadium would not be enough to stop the Clarets returning to the Championship today. That's because Aston Villa and Newcastle are avoiding defeat and Leicester are winning. Clear?

  50. As it stands

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

And here is why both Hull and Burnley need to score - they are both stuck in the bottom three as it stands....

    Premier League
  51. HALF-TIME

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

Referee Martin Atkinson looks at his watch and decides to toot his half-time whistle pretty promptly. Food for thought for both teams at the break - both need to score, quickly.

  52. Post update

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

Is there time for another scoring opportunity before the break? Hull hope so. Tom Huddlestone tries to orchestrate another home attack, but can't find an incisive pass. One minute of added time...

  53. Post update

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

Burnley have a glimpse of the Hull goal. Another set-piece eventually falls in the home box to Clarets left-back Ben Mee, who can't keep his effort down.

  54. Post update

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

All gone a bit scrappy at the KC Stadium. Hull boss Steve Bruce looks nervous, chewing his lip, as he prowls the touchline.

  55. Newcastle level

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

    Assem Allam

Another goal in Newcastle - and an equaliser for the home side against West Brom means they move back out of the bottom three at Hull's expense. The Geordie cheers are so loud that they can almost be heard down the east coast at the KC Stadium....

  56. Post update

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

Burnley have lost their way a little bit now, panicking in defence as they hurriedly clear. But Hull cannot take advantage and create another clearcut chance.

  57. Post update

    sone aluko

The Tigers are smelling blood now. Hull are firmly on the front foot as they press for the opener.

  58. HITS THE WOODWORK

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

    Robbie Brady

And Robbie Brady does produce! But the woodwork gets in the way as Burnley survive. The Hull midfielder's beautifully-crafted free- kick hits the top of the Burnley crossbar and bounces to safety.

  59. Post update

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

A free-kick looks the likeliest source of the opening goal. Now it is Hull who win a set-piece, with Robbie Brady and Dame N'Doye squabbling over the ball. Brady pulls rank - he needs to produce now...

  60. Post update

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

But Hull almost go back in to the drop zone by nearly conceding against Burnley. Ashley Barnes sends the ball goalwards, but Tigers keeper Steve Harper gathers at the second attempt.

  61. Hull out of the bottom three

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

Hang on, that gap has totally disappeared! Hull, who are almost celebrating themselves as Dame N'Doye's header whizzes just over the Burnley bar, are now out of the bottom three! How? Because Newcastle are losing at home to West Brom, meaning the Magpies drop into the bottom three....

  62. Villa lead

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

    Steve Bruce

Goal! Not here at the KC Stadium, but down at Villa Park. And it is another big goal in the race for survival, Tom Cleverley sticking Aston Villa ahead against West Ham. The gap between Hull and the rest is getting wider.

  63. Post update

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

And Burnley are rewarded with their first chance. In fact it is their first touch inside the Hull penalty area. Ashley Barnes leans back to meet the corner but cannot keep down his header. The big Burnley striker sticks his head in his hands in disappointment.

  64. Post update

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

You can't fault Burnley's attacking intent though, Kieran Trippier working hard down the right flank to win an away corner...

  65. Post update

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

I can't see Burnley scoring in the next five hours, never mind the next five minutes. The away side have a free-kick in another promising area, around 35 yards out from the home goal, but Kieran Trippier's delivery is again too strong for his skipper Jason Shackell to divert goalwards.

  66. Post update

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

    James Chester

Burnley set a new club record last weekend of failing to score in six consecutive top-flight matches - and they are closing in on a full 10 HOURS without scoring. Unless they bag in the next five minutes that is....

  67. Post update

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

Please can we have a scoring chance? Pretty please? Yes, we can! Hull carve out the game's clearest opportunity, Robbie Brady teasing in a delicious outswinging cross to the far post where Ahmed Elmohamady arrives to head over the Burnley crossbar.

  68. Post update

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

    Sean Dyche

Burnley have shaded possession in the opening quarter of the match, holding 56% of the ball, but neither side has yet managed to stick a shot on target.

  69. Post update

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

Chance for Hull City as they look to replicate Leicester's success. Robbie Brady skips across the left byeline and into the Burnley box, but sees Clarets skipper Jason Shackell hack away from inside his six-yard box.

  70. Leicester score...again

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

Was that a collective groan I just heard around the KC Stadium? Could well have been. That's because Leicester have doubled their lead against Southampton. The Foxes are two points clear of third-bottom Hull as it stands.

  71. Post update

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

Another set-piece, another wasted opportunity. This time Burnley are the guilty party, Kieran Trippier floating in a heavy ball from the left which goes over every head in the box.

  72. Post update

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

Moment of concern for the Burnley fans housed behind the goal which their team is defending. Clarets keeper Tom Heaton goes to collect a cross but is beaten to the ball by his skipper Jason Shackell, who heads out for a Hull corner. That set-piece comes to nothing however...

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

Hull are clinging on to possession again, having held just 34% of the ball in the opening stages. But the Tigers lack conviction in the final third, restricted to two more speculative shots from Sone Aluko and Jake Livermore. Aluko's effort is blocked, while Livermore's is high, wide and, frankly, awful.

  75. Post update

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

What a waste. Robbie Brady hits the Hull free-kick - but only finds the Burnley wall. However, the visitors don't clear their lines, allowing Tom Huddlestone to shoot just wide from distance.

Hull win a free-kick right on the edge of the Burnley penalty area after Kieran Trippier, er, tripped Stephen Quinn. Danger...

    Ahmed Elmohamady

If news of that goal has filtered through to the KC Stadium, then it doesn't sound like it. Hull fans are continuing to back their side, but the players aren't responding to their vocal support yet. Ahmed Elmohamady swings in a curling cross from the right flank but the Burnley defence head away the danger.

  78. Leicester lead

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

Uh oh, bad news for both teams is incoming. Leicester take an early lead against Southampton, Riyad Mahrez smashes in a 20-yard effort to move the Foxes two points clear of third-bottom Hull.

  87. Burnley 'still alive and kicking'

    Hull v Burnley (15:00 BST)

The Burnley players emerge from their dressing room to line up against their Hull rivals in the narrow KC Stadium tunnel. And veteran defender Michael Duff reckons there is still plenty of belief that the Clarets can stay up.

"It is hard to explain to people on the outside but, at any point during the season, if you'd have walked into the dressing room and been told this group was around the bottom of the table, it would have been hard to believe," says the 37-year-old.

"That's because there's such positivity and that won't change. We are still alive and we're still kicking.

"It is going to be hard. We are under no illusions where we are or what we have to do. We are fully aware of what we need to do but whilst there's a chance there's still positivity."

  88. Relegation battle 'going down to the wire'

    Hull v Burnley (15:00 BST)

    Steve Bruce

No wonder Steve Bruce has looked nervous in the last few weeks - this race for survival is going down to the wire.

"We realise the importance of this match but it won't be defining," said the Hull boss.

"We would love to post a result on the board because it will put us in a healthy situation, but who can predict how it's going to be?

"It's been so up and down it's been ridiculous. I think we might need a couple of results.

"That's my gut feeling at the moment. Is four more points enough? You would be very unlucky to go down with 38."

  94. Post update

    Hull v Burnley (15:00 BST)

    Guy Mowbray

    Hull

"It's Hull's most significant league game since the final-day draw against Cardiff that got them back into the Premier League two years ago, with a feeling that one more win might be enough to keep them there - whilst defeat would hugely increase the threat of relegation.

"To add further tension, it's a game against a club that has stuck in the Tigers' claws in recent times.

"Burnley, of course, absolutely have to win all their remaining three games to even have a chance of staying up, but any optimists left in the Clarets camp will welcome the run beginning here.

"The Lancashire side have won eight of the last nine meetings of the clubs, and been victorious in all of their last four visits to East Yorkshire."

Permutations was the part of A-level maths that nobody liked. And they are enough to bring even the most battle-hardened football journalist out in cold sweats. So, for now, let's keep the number crunching simple...

Hull will move three points clear of the bottom three with a win and defeat for fourth-bottom Leicester.

Burnley will be relegated if they don't beat the Tigers.

And the Clarets could also go down even if they win. A Leicester win against Southampton, Newcastle avoiding defeat by West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa not losing to West Ham would see to that.

  98. Post update

    Hull v Burnley (15:00 BST)

Seeing one of your relegation rivals climb out of the bottom three at your expense is hardly the ideal pre-match preparation. Unfortunately that is exactly the scenario that faces Hull.
