  1. The fight for survivalpublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 9 May 2015

Nigel Pearson has just done enough high-fives to last a lifetime. And why not?

Burnley are down, a win at Hull City did nothing to save them. Queens Park Rangers will go the same way unless they win at Manchester City tomorrow.

Aston Villa are in good shape, another win today over West Ham, while Newcastle's draw with West Brom leaves them with much to do.

You can get all the reaction, including quotes from Pearson and his opposite number Ronald Koeman by following our Premier League live text here. It will also take in Crystal Palace v Manchester United.

    From me, it's farewell.

Win, win, win, win, lose, win, win.

That's Leicester City's form. They fully deserved what they got today and the overall reward of surviving in this league is drawing ever closer.

Ronald Koeman chats to his coaching staff on the touchline, the investigation into Southampton's miserable form and display is under way.

Ryan Bertrand clips one forward into the box, it's cleared but only partially and Sadio Mane is fed, inside right-channel, he gets into the area but pulls a shot across goal and wide.

Sadio Mane down the left, he pulls it back for Toby Alderweireld who will smash one from 20 yards and Robert Huth gets in the way of it, corner. In it comes, there he is again, Huth. A monstrous header.

  7. Leicester's great escape...published at 16:51 British Summer Time 9 May 2015

Leicester have a trip to Sunderland and a home game against Queens Park Rangers to come now. What a chance they have given themselves to survive.

Queens Park Rangers travel to Manchester City tomorrow and could well go down, Burnley are going down today as things stand despite leading Hull City. Newcastle are only drawing, what a day to be a Leicester fan. The belief must be coursing through the veins of their followers. Any chance of a tweet Gary Lineker?

David Nugent and Esteban Cambiasso conspire to show what years of experience can deliver as they link up near the corner flag to win a corner and waste more time. Cambiasso, hands on hips, struts into the area as the home fans sing his name.

Nothing in this one in terms of distance covered. Leicester's players have run 99.6km compared to 98.2km by the away side. That's around about 60 miles per side. High intensity sprints are also a close call, 429 for the home side, 445 for the visitors.

This game has been won with more intensity in the final third.

Chris, Bournemouth: Hope Leicester stay up and Newcastle go down, just to prove that keeping faith in a manager is better than sacking him, as I'm getting worried football is becoming far too fickle these days.

Marcin Wasilewski is in the book for Leicester, a hand-off on Sadio Mane brings the first card of the game. In comes the Southampton free-kick but it's cleared easily. Around 10 minutes for Leicester to complete another huge win.

Victor Wanyama deep in midfield, Leicester let him have it, 'you won't hurt us' they think. He finds Filip Djuricic but his direct ball cannot find Graziano Pelle. More Southampton failings. Ronald Koeman's interview will be a good listen after this. Remember, earlier this week the Dutchman asked his side for more than what they have recently offered.

If this is more then I wouldn't want to see them on a bad day. In comes a Nathaniel Clyne cross, it's a beach ball delivery, floating into the goalkeeper's hands.

  14. OUCH!published at 16:39 British Summer Time 9 May 2015

Southampton now have Shane Long partnering Graziano Pelle up front but it's at the other end where we see a bit of drama and maybe a real worry for Leicester as Leonardo Ulloa limps off injured.

This is not the point in the season where you want to see your target man hobbling off holding his hamstring.

Esteban Cambiasso ripples the side netting for Leicester and one half of the ground think his volley from 18 yards has found the bottom corner. Calm yourselves ladies and gents.

  18. GREAT SAVE!published at 16:34 British Summer Time 9 May 2015

SADIO MANE... brilliant save from Kasper Schmeichel. A dipping effort out of nothing needs to be tipped over the bar. The keeper had to be agile and full of spring to reach that. It just goes to show, anything can still happen yet...

  19. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:33 British Summer Time 9 May 2015

David Nugent is on for Jamie Vardy. A standing ovation for the departing Foxes player.

  20. Postpublished at 16:32 British Summer Time 9 May 2015

Jamie Vardy gallops clear on the counter-attack, he can play Riyad Mahrez in for a clear chance... no. The striker could not dig the ball from under his feet and the break ends.

Vardy has been superb, full of running if short on guile when he missed a great first-half chance and he fluffed his lines there. It will be his last piece of action.
