    QPR 2-1 Newcastle

It goes down to the last game of the season for the Magpies. They need to win to ensure survival, with Hull two points behind them. The Magpies play West Ham at home while Hull are at home to Manchester United.

There is a pitch invasion of sorts at Loftus Road. FA investigation?

The relegated side end their home campaign with victory. They deserved it after a great second-half performance.

    QPR 2-1 Newcastle

    Yes! Yes! Yes! No!

Rolando Aarons surges down the left, gives it to Ayoze Perez before the balls lands at the feet of Papiss Cisse, whose shot from two yards is deflected wide. EDGE. OF. SEAT

What have Newcastle got left with four minutes to go? Will Rangers hit them on the break?

  10. Post update

Newcastle striker Ayoze Perez cuts in from the left and shoots, but his effort is easily collected by Alex McCarthy.

  11. Post update

    QPR 2-1 Newcastle

Newcastle are desperately looking for what could be a valuable equaliser, but they are finding it hard to get out of their own half.

  12. NEWCASTLE SUBSTITUTION

    QPR 2-1 Newcastle

Newcastle make their final change. Remy Cabella comes off and Sammy Ameobi is on to replace the Frenchman.

  13. Post update

    QPR 2-1 Newcastle

QPR's Matt Phillips misses again - this time he fires over from 12 yards after a brilliant cutback from Leroy Fer. Nervy times for the travelling Magpies. The Hoops without a home win in 10 games.

  14. PENALTY?

    QPR 2-1 Newcastle

Now a TV replay just showed that Newcastle's Remy Cabella appeared to be pulled down by Nedum Onuoha as a corner was played in. Hmm...

  15. NEWCASTLE SUBSTITUTIONS

    QPR 2-1 Newcastle

Newcastle coach John Carver twists. Midfielder Rolando Aarons and striker Papiss Cisse come on for Ryan Taylor and Emmanuel Riviere.

  16. GOAL

QPR 2-1 Newcastle - Leroy Fer

STRIKER! Leroy Fer picks up the ball from 25 yards and smashes in a howitzer of a shot that finds Tim Krul's top right.

As it stands, Newcastle remain two points ahead of 18th place Hull.

  17. Post update

    QPR 1-1 Newcastle

Charlie Austin is on one at the moment. The striker, who has 17 goals this season, surges forward but his shot from 20 yards is well held by Newcastle keeper Tim Krul.

  18. Post update

    QPR 1-1 Newcastle

It's.... Tottenham 2-0 Hull. Feel better Newcastle fans?

  19. Post update

    QPR 1-1 Newcastle

There's been a goal at White Hart Lane....

  20. GOAL

QPR 1-1 Newcastle - Matt Phillips

It was coming. QPR have been much improved in this half. Charlie Austin floats a lovely ball to the far post where Matt Phillips rises highest to head in. What's your answer to that Newcastle?

  21. CLOSE!

    QPR 0-1 Newcastle

Charlie Austin flashes an angled shot just wide. Great skill to baffle Fabricio Coloccini and Paul Dummett at the back - but his finish couldn't match that piece of magic.

  22. CLOSE!

    QPR 0-1 Newcastle

WHAT A BLOCK! Jonas Gutierrez prevents Matt Phillips from scoring an almost certain goal for QPR after he got on the end of a left wing cross from Charlie Austin.

  23. KICK-OFF

    QPR 0-1 Newcastle

    We are back under way.

  24. QPR SUBSTITUTIONS

  26. HALF-TIME

    QPR 0-1 Newcastle

MOTD's Steve Wilson at Loftus Road

    QPR's Charlie Austin

"Newcastle lead through the first Premier League goal for Emmanuel Riveire - softly conceded by QPR, but that's been their story of the season."

  27. HALF-TIME

    QPR 0-1 Newcastle

This is probably some of the best football Newcastle have played in quite a while - albeit against a side who have pretty much nothing to play for.

  28. GREAT SAVE!

    QPR 0-1 Newcastle

Brilliant save sub! Alex McCarthy dives down low to prevent Newcastle captain Fabricio Colocnini's header from two yards creeping in inside the far post.

  29. STOPPAGE TIME

    QPR 0-1 Newcastle

Four added minutes because of the injury to goalkeeper Robert Green. And it's a corner to Newcastle.

  30. Post update

    QPR 0-1 Newcastle

It's another corner for Newcastle after goalscorer Emmanuel Riviere puts defender Steven Caulker under pressure. However, the ball from the right curls out of play.

Neil Wake: That Riviere has just been waiting for the right moment!

  32. Post update

    QPR 0-1 Newcastle

Emmanuel Riviere looks like he's seeking a call-up for The Expendables 4. He's in action-hero mode. The Frenchman brilliantly brings down the ball into the area, but is prevented from shooting by Richard Dunne.

  33. Post update

    QPR 0-1 Newcastle

A corner for Newcastle after Clint Hill blocks an Ayoze Perez shot. Hill is stuck to the Spaniard.

  34. Post update

    QPR 0-1 Newcastle

QPR on the attack. Junior Hoilett delivers a cross that appears to flick off Ayoze Perez and go out of play. Corner? No, goal kick. Ref Lee Probert missed that one.

  35. QPR SUBSTITUTION

    QPR 0-1 Newcastle

    Alex McCarthy replaces Robert Green.

  36. Post update

    QPR 0-1 Newcastle

Groggy QPR keeper Robert Green is about to be replaced after his team-mate Joey Barton accidently caught his head in trying to block a Newcastle move in the area. Alex McCarthy is set to come on, I think.

Shitfz: Emmanuel Riviere scoring with a miskick. Pretty much sums up the Toon's season

  38. GOAL

QPR 0-1 Newcastle - Emmanuel Riviere

    Emmanuel Riviere

He's only gone and scored Steve Wilson. Emmanuel Riviere gets his first league goal for the club - what a time to do it and how important could that goal prove to be?!

A long ball from Tim Krul is fired into the box, Riviere springs the offside trap and somehow dinks the ball over Robert Green. His shot seemed to come off his other foot before going in. They all count though.

  39. Post update

    QPR 0-0 Newcastle

It comes to nothing because of good closing down by QPR.

  40. Post update

    QPR 0-0 Newcastle

Corner to Newcastle. Their first of the game.

  41. Post update

    QPR 0-0 Newcastle

MOTD's Steve Wilson at Loftus Road

"Newcastle striker Emmanuel Riviere is about to complete his 18th hour of Premier League football - he's had six shots on target and no goals."

Chipperhull: So if Hull, Sunderland and Newcastle all win Villa will be back in the bottom 3. That would be quite funny.

No, Hull or Leicester will be down there.

  44. Post update

    QPR 0-0 Newcastle

SHOT! Ex-Magpie Joey Barton drills in a shot from 20 yards that Newcastle keeper Tim Krul dives down to easily collect.

  45. Post update

    QPR 0-0 Newcastle

Another point worth making is that they've had about 200 throw-ins on the left in the direction QPR are attacking. There is hardly any play on the opposite wing.

  46. Post update

    QPR 0-0 Newcastle

Rangers pinging balls into the area for the likes of forwards Charlie Austin and Leroy Fer, but all rather aimless. A concern for the away side is that Ryan Taylor keeps losing possession in midfield.

  47. Post update

    QPR 0-0 Newcastle

Half chance for the Mags. Robert Green just gets ahead of striker Ayoze Perez after Clint Hill fails to get enough purchase on his header back to the keeper from Tim Krul's long punt.

  48. Post update

    QPR 0-0 Newcastle

    QPR's Junior Hoilett

QPR are on the front foot in these early stages, but then Clint Hill brings down Ayoze Perez and Newcastle have a free-kick about 20 yards from their own area. Ref Lee Probert has a word with Hill. A polite word, I think.

  49. Post update

    QPR 0-0 Newcastle

Actually QPR coach Chris Ramsey is also wearing a T-shirt. Symmetry.

QPR midfielder Joey Barton: Looking forward to the game today. Toon Army in town. Important we bounce back from poor showing last week at City.

Barton also paid tribute to former QPR player Rodney Marsh on his account. I think that's what he was doing.

  55. Ferdinand: 'We've got it badly wrong'

    QPR v Newcastle (15:00 BST)

    BBC Radio 5 live

    Les Ferdinand

So Steve Wilson has just highlighted that these two teams have not been very good this year. Read what QPR's director of football Les Ferdinand said on BBC Radio 5 live about his club's relegation.

Where QPR stand if the £60m fine is imposed:

"We'll not be in a good position. It's a situation where we have gone down to the Championship and we will have to cut our cloth accordingly.

Whether the club needs a few consolidation years in the Championship:

"Talking about what's happened in the past, one thing I will say is that the owners - they've done what they thought was right. Everything they've done, they've done with the right intentions. Unfortunately we've got it badly wrong. But the intention to do things right was what it was all about. We've found ourselves in this situation now and like I said we need to regroup and realise what this club is and where it is, and the best way forward for the club. Hopefully we'll do this.

Whether QPR have to start again:

"Yes. I think if you look at our development squad and the youth team, we haven't had someone come through and play in the first team on a consistent basis for 16 years now. And that's unheard of for a club like QPR. We get 18,000 supporters in this stadium every other week and they do a fantastic job when they come here. But realistically that's what we get through the turnstiles. So we can't afford to go out and spend £20m on players. We need to start regrouping and producing a crop of players who can play for this club."

What will happen to manager Chris Ramsey:

"I think we'll wait until the end of the season, I think the financial fair play will play a big role on where we need to go and what we're able to do. But for now we'll hopefully put in a good performance after what happened at Manchester City last weekend. So come the end of the season we'll have to regroup and look at the best way forward for QPR."

  61. Post update

    QPR v Newcastle (15:00 BST)

MOTD's Steve Wilson at Loftus Road

"That Newcastle might actually stay up after taking a paltry one point from nine games says much about the terrible predicament that Hull City are in. It also tells you just what a good job Alan Pardew did under extremely challenging circumstances."

  62. Probably the best coach in the Premier League

    QPR v Newcastle (15:00 BST)

    John Carver

John Carver. Newcastle caretaker coach. Also known as "the best coach in the Premier League", although he says what he said was taken out of context. If your tongue-in-cheek is with a very straight face John, then perhaps it was.

Anyway, his side are two points above the relegation zone and might need to win these last two games of the season to survive. They cancelled their end-of-season party - this is serious.

So will Carvs prove his worth at Loftus Road today? A Loftus Road which has endured more painful sights this season than even St James' Park.

QPR are already down, so surely they won't be too bothered about putting up a fight. You would have thought.
