Rob Cobban: Leicester league position graph, upside down, looks exactly like Table Mountain. Lion's head and all. Wonder if they planned that?

Yes. Leicester's entire season has been one artistic statement. Especially the bit about the ostrich.

Sunderland continue to press. Danny Graham nods down a long ball towards Connor Wickham, who sets himself for a first-time shot from the edge of the area... but it's not a clean connection, and the ball slices away and wide.

Sunderland midfielder Liam Bridcutt takes a loose touch and, in his attempt to recover, clatters Jamie Vardy. It's a booking for Bridcutt, who comes off worst in the challenge and hobbles to his feet after treatment.

It often gets forgotten about, this one, but Fulham - under the leadership of future England boss Roy Hodgson - survived despite being five points from safety with three games left in 2008.

Incredibly, they came from 2-0 down to win at Manchester City, then beat Birmingham and Portsmouth, staying up on goal difference at Reading's expense.

A significant goal in the relegation battle. Emmanuel Riviere's first for Newcastle has given them a huge push towards safety in that game at relegated QPR.

Danny Graham is causing Leicester problems. Lee Cattermole chips a lovely ball in behind the visiting defence, but Sunderland striker Graham doesn't connect cleanly, and Kasper Schmeichel pushes the ball away.

Fascinating tussle between Sunderland striker Danny Graham and Leicester's no-nonsense centre-back Robert Huth on the touchline. Huth's impatience eventually gets the better of him, and he fells Graham to conceded a free-kick. The visitors's three-man central defence is holding up well, though. The set-piece is easily dealt with.

Now Sunderland's top scorer Connor Wickham has a blast from wide out on the left, and the ball sails over. Dick Advocaat doesn't look too impressed by that. I'm with him.

Leicester look as though they have ridden that early spell of Sunderland pressure. Marc Albrighton plays a long cross into towards Leo Ulloa - and Sunderland full-back Billy Jones has a bit of a wrestling match with the Foxes striker inside the penalty area. Referee happy to let it go, though.

Back at the Stadium of Light, things have quietened down just a touch after that frenetic start. But Leicester have a corner... which keeper Costel Pantilimon punches clear.

Great atmosphere at the Stadium of Light. You'd expect that.

As Leicester look to complete a remarkable push towards safety, I've been having a look through the archives at some classic relegation escapes down the years.

West Brom made history in 2005 as the first club to avoid relegation from the Premier League after being bottom on Christmas Day. In fact, they were bottom going into the final day - but rivals Norwich and Southampton lost, while Crystal Palace could only draw, meaning that Albion's 2-0 win over Portsmouth kept Bryan Robson's side up.

    Cue the champagne celebrations.

Terrific start to this game. First Leicester winger Jeffrey Schlupp causes panic in the home defence with a deep cross that Marc Albrighton heads back across goal - and just beyond top scorer Leonardo Ulloa.

Then Sunderland break to the other end, and Danny Graham gets free on the left to hit a shot that's deflected wide for a corner. Leicester clear their lines with some difficulty. Won't end 0-0, this. You can quote me on that.

Nearly a breakthrough for Sunderland early as Seb Larsson tries to catch out Leicester keeper Kasper Schmeichel with a whipped free-kick from way out on the left. Larsson goes for goal at the near post, but Schmeichel is alert to push the ball out.

John O'Shea plays a long ball forward towards Sunderland striker Danny Graham, who sets off enthusiastically towards the Leicester goal - buoyed by the joy of his first goal for the club last weekend. Unfortunately, he's too enthusiastic, and is flagged offside.

Dick Advocaat, in the Sunderland technical area, looks resplendent in a woolly beige scarf. I know it's mid-May, but I don't blame him - it gets awfully windy at the Stadium of Light.

Bright start from Sunderland. Danny Graham gets down the right and crosses low towards Connor Wickham, who goes down under a challenge from Robert Huth as Leicester clear. Loud screams for a penalty from the stands are not matched on the pitch.

If Leicester were to stay up, it would be the Premier League's greatest relegation escape since... well, since Sunderland won four of their final six matches - a run that included victories at Chelsea and Manchester United - to stay up last season.

So who is staying up, and who is going down? And what would be your nomination for the greatest relegation escape of all-time?

"Sunderland are on their own annual rally from relegation.

"Back-to-back league wins for the first time all season sees them realistically needing just one more win to ensure they stay up - and with away games at Arsenal and Chelsea to come, they could save their supporters a lot of stress by winning this one.

"Their revival can be put down to experience too - that of head coach Dick Advocaat, who has won three of his six games in charge. The team he took over had won three of their previous 22 in the league."

"Last year it was 'Gus's Great Escape' that saw Sunderland to safety, but the Leicester City story this time is arguably even more impressive.

"The Foxes' form is on a par with some of the biggest sides around right now, and they stand 90 minutes away from possibly securing their Premier League status. How unlikely did that seem even just a month ago?!

"Nigel Pearson admits that he can't nail down any particular reason for the upturn, but has pointed to his players' 'managing of the game' being better than it was in the first half of the season."
