This is a good game. Swansea come forward but Bafetimbi Gomis is unable to reach a ball into the box from Jonjo Shelvey before the visitors hit straight back as Frank Lampard is inches away from sliding in to meet a cross from the left.

Ryan Mould:, external Return of Flappyhandski.

Ndifreke Abasi:, external Swansea...that's what happens when you don't convert your early chances...

Alex Gone:, external Toure has barely been in the game but there you go. Class is permanent

How different things could have been if Nathan Dyer's effort had not been so superbly saved by Joe Hart just a few minutes before the Man City goal. That's football, though, you have to take your chances when they come. One City didn't, the other did.

BBC Radio Manchester summariser Fred Eyre: "They had been second best but time after time, game after game a piece of individual brilliance puts them in the lead. There was no danger when Toure got the ball, but he manoeuvred it from under his feet and that shot virtually when through Fabianski."

And there is the danger realised. City possess game-changers and one of them - Yaya Toure - underlines that by firing a low shot from the edge of the box. It looks to be a big error from Lukasz Fabianski to allow the shot to beat him, but replays show that a deflection off Ashley Williams made his job harder. Still should have saved it, though.

Shohidur Rahman:, external Jefferson Montero is one of my favourite wingers to watch. Old school and has given every full back problems this season.

Alex Gone:, external Montero's having Zabaleta on toast today.

Swansea have been on top but they need to be careful. They are saved by an official's flag as Sergio Aguero breaks away. Fortunately for the home side the striker moved a tad too soon and was caught offside. just before putting the ball in the net.

  9. GREAT SAVE!published at 13:48 British Summer Time 17 May 2015

Someone needs to have a word with Eliaquim Mangala and remind him how sharp Nathan Dyer is, as he seems to have forgotten. He dwells and allows the winger to nick in to steal the ball in the box. He has just Joe Hart to beat but the keeper pulls out a superb one-handed diving save to tip the effort away.

Manchester City enjoy their longest spell of possession so far as David Silva, Fernandinho and Yaya Toure look to fashion something in the home half. Silva is felled during the move and wins a free-kick which Aleksandar Kolarov looks to curl over the wall and in to the net, succeeding in the first part, but failing in the second.

Bafetimbi Gomis is right in the thick of things. The Swansea striker rises to meet a corner but he heads wide of goal.

Adam, London: Anyone saying van Gaal is ridiculous, he spent £150 million! Garry Monk spent very little and lost his main striker (Swansea did the double over United too).

The noise in the Liberty Stadium is a sure sign of approval from the home fans for the early efforts of their players. Neil Taylor finds space down the left but his pull-back is behind Bafetimbi Gomis, who can only drag his shot wide. Swansea have begun this very positively. It is at the complete opposite end of the attacking scale to their performance at Arsenal last week.

  15. Postpublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 17 May 2015

Swansea come forward again with some neat passing giving Nathan Dyer a chance to attack Aleksandar Kolarov down the right. The defender is strongest, though, and comes away with the ball.

  16. Postpublished at 13:37 British Summer Time 17 May 2015

Plenty of noise from the Man City fans, but nothing yet from their players on the pitch. Swansea have started well. They look up for this. Jonjo Shelvey looks to thread a free-kick into the Man City box but he gets his delivery wrong and the away side can clear.

    BBC Radio

BBC Radio Manchester summariser Fred Eyre: "It's a good job Gomis did not get a clean strike, he choked it a bit and hit it into the ground. Wonderful play and vision from Jonjo Shelvey, not many players would have spotted that."

Martin Dimichelis in actionImage source, Getty Images

An error from Martin Dimichelis presents Swansea with the first chance as Jonjo Shelvey's pass sets Bafetimbi Gomis marauding into City territory. The striker is forced to check and loses some momentum and his 18-yard shot is tame and saved by Joe Hart.

No messing from Neil Taylor. He slams into Pablo Zabaleta and gives the visitors a free-kick in their own half. Very much a 'show em you mean business' challenge.
