Chile swing a free-kick into the box, which Sergio Romero meets with a meaty punch. Meanwhile, Angel Di Maria is down. Is that a hamstring injury? The Manchester United player sent a concerned look towards his bench. He is nay happy, the lad.

The first yellow card goes to Francisco Silva for pulling the shirt of Angel di Maria.

Eduardo Vargas is behind the Argentina defence with yards to tear into. He gets inside the box but fires his shot over the bar as Nicolas Otamendi slides in.

Messi takes the free-kick, whipping it towards the near post, where it is met by Aguero's head but prevented from reaching the net by a solid diving save from Claudio Bravo. Bravo indeed.

Argentina are settling in to the task now. Pablo Zabaleta is caught and they have a free-kick in a dangerous spot on the right side of the box...

You don't even need to watch the game to know when Argentina have the ball. Just wait for the whistles. Lionel Messi goes on a trademark weaving run on the edge of the box but it is down a blind alley and he has to go backwards before Chile clear.

The pace of the game is frantic. Neither team is being given a second of time on the ball. Sergio Aguero looks to latch on to a ball into the box but he is muscled out of it before he can strike.

Chile have their tails up. They come forward again and Alexis Sanchez draws a good save from Sergio Romero with a shot on the turn from 12 yards out. Argentina look to break quickly and Di Maria is felled by Charles Aranguiz. Should be a card. It isn't.

Eduardo Vargas has more goals than anyone else in this tournament so far. His confidence is sky high. But his shot from the edge of the box is low and wide of goal.

The Chile full-backs are getting very far forward. Former Wigan and Birmingham man Jean Beausejour has possession on the edge of the Argentina box but his low drive lacks precision and is cleared. 

Soon after, Pablo Zabaleta comes to Argentina's rescue with a clearance from inside his own box as Jorge Valdivia tries to find Eduardo Vargas.

Chile go on the charge early doors as Mauricio Isla bombs down the right and crosses for his one-time QPR team-mate Eduardo Vargas, but Sergio Romero comes out ahead of the striker to claim.
