"One thing you have to say is that this result shows the difference in quality between the Championship and the Premiership."
Rangers right-back Ricky Foster is a lucky boy. He has had a torrid time in the second half and gets away with a yellow card after a blatant kick that halts Marvin Johnson in his tracks.
Motherwell substitute John Sutton goes close to increase the lead, but the striker's low shot is saved by Cammy Bell after it almost slips under the goalkeeper's body.
"Rangers have come up short. There are some tired legs after six games in 22 days. The one thing you can't say about Stuart McCall's team is that they haven't worked their socks off."
GR_7: "Sums Scottish football up. Celebrating being the worst team in the league like a cup win."
Anthony Marshall: "Rangers look set for another season in the wilderness. Can only get harder as time goes on for them to get promoted."
Kaptain.OFF: "Rangers have been appalling over both legs. No end product and no creativity. Not ready for top flight."
Craig Surgeon: "Looks like another year of building for us (Rangers) unfortunately, not good enough."
Craig Williamson: "Rangers an embarrassment to the Championship. Wrong team in the final."
5iveTimes: "Traffic Scotland reporting potential delays in the Ibrox area adding at least a year to your journey."
It is all over now. Marvin Johnson again rampages down the Rangers right and lays it on a plate for Lionel Ainsworth and the winger's shot from the edge of the penalty box takes a deflection - off hapless Marius Zaliukas - once more and past the despairing Cammy Bell.
Haris Vuckic has sprung to life with a curling effort from 18 yards, but it is straight at goalkeeper George Long. But it all seems too late.
James: "Best goal scored ever."
Bombay: "We don't deserve to go up. Motherwell have been the better team over the two legs."
Robert Gray: "Someone explain to me what Cammy Bell was thinking there."
Grant Steven: "Dodgy Keeper!"
Tom Gardner: "Comical goalkeeping by the Rangers custodian. That should really go down as Bell o.g."
Haris Vuckic has been disappointing for Rangers, the on-loan Newcastle United midfielder failing to stamp his quality on the game. However, he fires in a dangerous low cross that Josh Law almost deflects into his own net.
Captain Lee McCulloch looks to inspire Rangers with an athletic hitch-kick from a corner, but his effort flies a couple of feet over the crossbar following a corner.
Another change for Rangers as Kris Boyd is hauled off - perhaps a sad end to the record scorer's Rangers career - with Nicky Clark taking his place up front.
Jean: "I'm a Caley fan, Motherwell my home town... hubby and oldest son both Motherwell supporters and the rest of my family are Rangers fans, but I hope Motherwell do this and stay up - Rangers are not untouchable. Come on you Well!"
John: "What a punch."
Rangers manager Stuart McCall makes a quick change, with Tom Walsh replacing Shane Ferguson.
Howler alert! A shot from Marvin Johnson from 18 yards takes a wicked deflection and flies high towards the Rangers goal. Backtracking goalkeeper Cammy Bell ought to have gathered easily, but he makes an awkward swipe at it with his right arm and instead punches it into the back of his own net.
Scott McDonald is the first Motherwell player to be booked after a late challenge on Haris Vuckic.
Richard Foster is having a nightmare. Moments after a poor pass back, the right-back is dispossessed by Marvin Johnson but manages to rescue the situation with a tackle inside the area that concedes a corner.
Motherwell kick off in the Lanarkshire sunshine and, unless Rangers can change the course of events, we are 45 minutes away from the status quo - the Glasgow side remaining in the Championship and the Fir Park outfit extending their 30-year stay in Scotland top flight.

BBC Scotland at Fir Park
"It has been a riveting, and firefly-contested, at Fir Park but little quality or composure. Rangers need to deliver more crosses to put the Motherwell defence under pressure, while the home side need to bring Ainsworth and Johnson into the game more."
"Of the two managers, Stuart McCall will be the more pleased. He will say keep this tempo, Kris Boyd has one or two chances. I can see Rangers winning this game, but can they win it by two goals? I don't know."
