Did anyone see that result coming? Scotland's hopes of qualifying for the Euro 2016 finals have been dealt a blow with defeat in Georgia.

Victory for the Republic of Ireland would see them leapfrog the Scots and move into third place.

Gordon Strachan's side will lick their wounds and get ready to face the mighty Germans at Hampden on Monday.

Thanks for your company this evening, enjoy your weekend. Cheers.

"We're gutted. It wasn't the result we were after. When you go one nil down to a team like that you know it's always tough because they just sit back and we didn't really create the chances that we wanted to create.

"But we have got to move on, we've got a game on Monday that we can look forward to and try and get the three points that we need to."

"I don't think we played as well as we could have obviously. It was disappointing in the end that we didn't play as well as we have in previous games. It's a setback but we have to come again on Monday."

On facing Germany "Obviously going into it as huge underdogs with the way Germany have played over the last year or to. We'll give it our best shot and see if it's good enough.

"Physically tough his evening chasing the game to the last minute but we have no other option, we'll get ready for Monday."

Gordon Strachan says he will prepare his side to face Germany at Hampden on Monday, retaining hope of qualifying for the Euro 2016 finals.

"Course I'm concerned after a defeat, no matter what the target is," he said. "After every game if you've been beat then you're concerned - you look at things, you look at yourself. So I'm no as happy a bunny as I was this morning but I've been there before.

"I've just got to think that we've got three games left. I want to get as many points as possible, I've not changed my thought processes since it started and as I said to you sometimes it's a bumpy ride to get where you want to go - had a bump tonight and we have to deal with that and I have every confidence in the players.

"To the group, they'll get themselves organised refreshed and looking forward to the challenge. There's players in there who I'm sure will be wanting to put on a great performance on Monday night. It'll have to be a great performance to collect points."

"Georgia put in a great defensive show and being ready to hit on the break. We didn't have the physical presence to fight them for a goal. Our lads were brave but it wasn't to be.

"We didn't do enough to win it and were a couple of yards or passes away."

Andy Craig: Mark McGhee said that Brown was the first name on the team sheet. Maybe it should be Darren Fletcher and Craig Gordon.

Bernard Ryan: Once again: Scotland can perform in Dortmund against the Germans, but not in Tbilisi against the Georgians. Advantage YBIG.

Chris: Another woeful display from Scotland! All they can hope for is a miracle to get through. Tired of the disappointment now, Strachan needs to start picking players that want to be there, not just the names. This has been Strachan's worst game by far, poor tactics to start with and awful substitutions.
