Summary

  • Qazaishvili drives in winner from edge of box

  • Defeat major blow to Scots' qualification hopes

  • They are third but could slip to fourth later

  1. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 18:16 British Summer Time 4 September 2015

Steven Fletcher collects a cracking through ball and clips a shot at goal; only to see it bounce back off the post. An offside flag saves the striker's blushes. Scotland are knocking on the door here in search of an equaliser.

  2. Georgia 1-0 Scotlandpublished at 18:14 British Summer Time 4 September 2015

Steven Fletcher is impeded attempting to thread a ball through to Steven Naismith. Free kick to Scotland but again the delivery is poor and Georgia remain a goal to the good.

  3. Georgia 1-0 Scotlandpublished at 18:12 British Summer Time 4 September 2015

Ikechi Anya, running at full pelt down the left, shows the Georgia defence a clean pair of heels. However, he slows his run and the hosts clear the danger.

Scotland think they've equalised but Steven Naismith is penalised for using an arm on the goal-line against Revishvili. The keeper gets sheepishly to his feet and rubs his neck as though indicating the Scotland forward had tried to get him with the piano wire.

  5. Georgia 1-0 Scotlandpublished at 18:08 British Summer Time 4 September 2015

More danger for Scotland as Ananidze whips a wicked ball into the near post and Mchedlidze steers his effort into the grateful arms of David Marshall.

  6. KICK-OFFpublished at 18:04 British Summer Time 4 September 2015

We're back under way! No changes for either side...

Adam in Edinburgh: Fletcher, Maloney, Morrison, Mulgrew and especially Robertson have been awful! Where's the confidence? They're not being managed by LVG, get forward!!!

Martin, Dundee: We never learn. Awful defending at the goal. Far too much tippy-tappy passing going on giving the Georgians time to get back and defend. That might be fine if you have the players who can break them down - we don't - we're not Spain. We need to up the tempo of the game and play fast counter-attacking football.

Gary Macqueen: Same as 2007 - tactics are all wrong. Our best striker in Griffiths is on the bench while one-goal a game Fletcher starts again!

Anonymous: I genuinely think everyone should ignore the build up to a Scotland game. It's almost as if all the players read all the hope and good feeling and then their spine turns to the consistency of hospital jelly.

Andy Craig: Scott Brown running around like a headless chicken. I like Gordon Strachan but how he thinks Brown is better than Darren Fletcher is beyond me.

Steven Anderson: So Scotland might not look bad but have we even had one shot on goal?

Angus McPhail: Think Scott Brown has tried but been poor, Steven Fletcher not offered much at all

Graeme Aitken: Well played Scotland. Now we will snatch a 1-1 draw and claim it was a good result!

  9. HALF-TIMEpublished at 17:49 British Summer Time 4 September 2015

Scotland trot off the pitch at the Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena and up the tunnel for a probable proverbial rocket from Gordon Strachan. Georgia lead at the break courtesy of Valeri Qazaishvili's strike.

Georgia's defence does well to thwart Steven Naismith as the Everton man prepared to flash a shot at goal. Frustration building for a Scotland side struggling for creativity in Tbilisi.

Food for thought for Gordon Strachan at the break.

John McAllister: When is Gordon Strachan going to learn that Steven Fletcher is useless? And why pick players who can't get a game for their club team?

Mac: And that my friends, is all you deserve when you don't learn your lessons. There's more intensity in my Pot Noodle.

Derek Thomas on Facebook. I think Craig Gordon should have been in the team and I hope Lee Griffiths gets a look in.

Scotland's defence is shredded once again and Okriashvili has two unmarked team-mates inside the box. He dithers and Scotland somehow clear for a corner. The hosts fail to profit. You wonder if they'll live to regret failing to take a golden chance to double their lead.

  15. GOALpublished at 17:39 British Summer Time 4 September 2015

Jubilation in the Georgia technical area as the hosts break the deadlock with a goal of stunning simplicity. Scotland fail to deal with a ball into the box and Valeri Qazaishvili punishes them, rifling a shot low beyond the despairing David Marshall.

"They deserve the lead as they've been the better side," says BBC Sportsound pundit Willie Miller.

    Hard to disagree, Willie.

Can your dog hold the ball up front with his/her back to goal Alan? If so, get on the blower to Gordon Strachan.

That's eagle-eyed of you Mark! I don't want to upset the frazzled copper further...

  18. CLOSE!published at 17:31 British Summer Time 4 September 2015

Scotland's best chance of the first half. The impressive Andy Robertson whips in a low dangerous cross which is in that no man's land between goal-line and six yard box. The stretching Steven Fletcher tries to steer the ball home with his left foot but his feathered touch drifts wide.

"Georgia will be more than happy with their performance and are stroking the ball about. I think the home team will be the happier of the two..."

  20. Georgia 0-0 Scotlandpublished at 17:26 British Summer Time 4 September 2015

Gordon Strachan makes a few tactical notes to share with his troops at the break. Will the Scotland manager be happy with his side's display so far?

A goal before half-time would see a big tick in his notebook...
