    Man City 1-2 West Ham

Yaya Toure goes even closer. The big Ivorian midfielder flashes a cracking angled drive past that charmed right-hand post of Adrian's.

This will not stay 2-1 to West Ham. It cannot stay 2-1 to West Ham.

  2. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 63 mins

    Man City 1-2 West Ham

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic makes a change, most probably to freshen things up. Michail Antonio comes on for the tiring Victor Moses.

  4. CLOSE!published at 59 mins

    Man City 1-2 West Ham

Diafra! West Ham's second goalscorer should have had a second himself. With Joe Hart out of goal he fires his angled shot a few yards wide. Diafra Sakho should have done much better.

West Ham will surely kill the game off if they get a third.

  5. GREAT SAVE!published at 57 mins

    Man City 1-2 West Ham

Brilliant save by Adrian. City midfielder Yaya Toure uses a combination of quick feet and bulldozing to make his way into the area only to be thwarted by the Hammers keeper as he got his shot away.

Adrian might need new gloves soon.

  6. "A rearguard action from West Ham"published at 18:45 British Summer Time 19 September 2015

    Man City 2-1 West Ham

    BBC Radio Manchester
David White, former Man City and England winger

"It's just going to be a rearguard action from West Ham now. They gave it their all in the first half but I think these will be a difficult 45 minutes. It will be a great half of football."

  7. CLOSE!published at 54 mins

    Man City 1-2 West Ham

I told you this would be a long half for West Ham. Raheem Sterling's cross from the left just eludes the head of Sergio Aguero.

The ball then falls to the feet of Yaya Toure whose shot, which was set to create a hole in the Etihad, is blocked.

  8. CLOSE!published at 50 mins

    Man City 1-2 West Ham.

So close to an own goal. A cross from the right is almost turned in by West Ham defender Winston Reid. Luckily for him, team-mate Adrian was on hand to make a good low save.

The tempo has been turned up a few notches.

  9. CLOSE!published at 48 mins

    Man City 1-2 West Ham

Yaya Toure is trying to lead this City comeback by example. He drives a low angled shot narrowly past the right-hand post of keeper Adrian. This is going to be a long old half for West Ham.

  11. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 18:35

    Man City 1-2 West Ham

I wonder if City boss Manuel Pellegrini wasn't happy about something he saw in defence in the first half? Martin Demichelis comes on for Eliaquim Mangala.

I thought Mangala was OK, to be fair.

If you are watching this game, the graphic below showing the players' average position in the first half will tell you what you already know - West Ham are defending deep and in numbers. If you are not watching, it also gives you an idea of how many men Manchester City are committing forward in search of the goals they need - which is why they have been so susceptible on the break.

Jeremiah Kariuki: De Bryune opens his account. West Ham have to protect their lead now, otherwise, the Citizens will start the goals riot!

Andy Knowles: City caught cold by a dangerous West Ham team. It was important to get the goal back before the interval and a great strike from Kevin de Bruyne.

Mark Mason: Good advert for NOT time wasting in the first half, West Ham!

  15. One team in it?published at 18:27

    Man City 1-2 West Ham

Looking at the heat map from the first-half at the Etihad, you would think there was only one team in it - Manchester City (on the left) have seen a LOT more of the ball in the West Ham half than the visitors have in theirs (on the right).

The scoreline will tell you that, sometimes, it doesn't matter how much possession you have - especially if you are West Ham and playing away from home.

  16. "A great first half"published at 18:26

    Man City 1-2 West Ham

    BBC London 94.9
Steve Froggatt, former Aston Villa winger

"It's been a great first half. West Ham fully deserve their lead and for much of that half were throwing everything at City. Now, Slaven Bilic will have to get his side reorganised because City will lay siege to them in the second 45 minutes."

What did you make of that guys and gals?

It was 0-1, then 0-2, should have been 0-3 then it was 1-2 just before the break. The drama!!

Which way do you think it will go now? Aren't these Saturday late evening matches normally quite dull?

  20. "That's what millions and millions of pounds gets you"published at 18:19 British Summer Time 19 September 2015

    Man City 1-2 West Ham

    BBC London 94.9
Steve Froggatt, former Aston Villa winger

"Dreadful time to concede a goal for West Ham. It was crucial for them to get in two goals up. But that's what millions and millions of pounds will get you, and why Man City have brought De Bruyne in. He scores goals for you.

"The great thing from a neutral point of view is that we've got a heck of a second half to come!"
