    Sunderland 2-2 West Ham

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic: If you asked me yesterday would I take a point, I would never say I would take a point, we want three but we knew it would be a hard game.

"Emotions are mixed, a point is a point is especially when we were 2-0 down, but if we look at the last 20 minutes I am disappointed we didn’t capitalise on it. But we are not greedy. It’s a good point for us.”

Steve McClaren, speaking to BBC Sport: "The second goal we scored was onside. We came here to win. We defended well and were compact in the first half. We could have been 3-0 up before they scored.

"You are coming up against a top quality team. Sergio Aguero was world class. He is getting back to form and we were punished by a really high quality opponent.

"It was such a magnificent performance in the first half, it was the same against Chelsea last week but in 13 minutes we got beaten by world class individuals.

"We have had a tough eight games. Our season now has to begin and we take what encouragement we can from the last two games. We probably frightened them into life and they killed us for it.

"That either makes or breaks you. We came here to win, I think we caused Manchester City problems and could have had more goals and we should have done.

"I have seen enough in the last two weeks that we can win football matches. We were unlucky last week and this week. There is enough in there, we just need consistency. Our season begins now."

    Chelsea 1-1 Southampton

Willian is winning the Chelsea plaudits, and not just for his goal-scoring exploits...

Iregbenu Paul: Willian, forget the goals, is very important. He appears to be one of the lots that understands the gaffer.

Archie Small: Time for Willian to start being considered top quality - massively underrated.

Alfie Snow: Last season, I thought of WillIan as a weak link. So far this season, he has been our best and most consistent player!

    Norwich 1-2 Leicester

Norwich City manager Alex Neil on Leicester's first-half penalty: "If it's a penalty, it's a penalty. But I'm not sure, I haven't looked at it back.

"In the first half we have got to try and control games, we're a possession-based team and they're a counter attacking team. The pace we moved the ball wasn't good enough and they took advantage of that.

"We spoke about how that's when we're at our most dangerous, when we've got possession of the ball.

"We changed the way we played, much more quickly with two up top, and looked to put things forward. We were more direct and it worked for us.

"We had enough chances, but our sloppiness and poor play cost us in the first half. We had enough to get something, but I think when you give yourself two goals to chase you make it difficult."

  9. 'We came to win'published at 18:04

    Man City 6-1 Newcastle

Newcastle manager Steve McClaren: "We came to win, we were attack minded. The goal just before half time woke them up and it was a whirlwind 13 minutes and we lost the game in those 13 minutes.

"This is the best team in the Premier League with a front four who can score at any opportunity. They took advantage of our missed chances and we got punished by world class players.

"The score was a little harsher than what we deserved. It was not the system, it was individual errors and world class finishing from Aguero.

"We are building character in that dressing room. We have played the top four in our first few games of the season. Our season now begins, we have Norwich coming up and we prepare for that."

Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany wasn't the only one impressed by Sergio Aguero's five-goal haul at the Etihad...

Roy: Aguero really needs to move to one of Europe's giants when still at his peak. His talents deserve to be demonstrated in front of the biggest crowds at the Bernabau, Camp Nou, Allianz or Old Trafford.

Andrew Priestley: Sergio Aguero showed us today why he is currently the Premier League's only world-class player. He's in a league of his own.

Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood: "I am very disappointed, we needed to win the game at home to a team that we could have leapfrogged.

"We failed to capitalise and it was not good enough. I think a draw would have been a fair result, both teams were average.

"The situation is getting worse, it is alright saying ifs, buts and maybes, but we are not picking up the wins and that is why we are down near the bottom of the league.

"We are all in this together but as the manager I take all the responsibility.

"I will use the international break to get my players fitter because they are not fit enough yet to play the way I want them to play. For some of them it will be like a mini pre-season."

“We responded very well after our defeat against Arsenal and we showed good character and it was a good performance. The second half was battle but we have six or seven chances to score. We need to concentrate more on the last pass. Jamie Vardy had a good performance but so did everyone else. I thought ‘oh my, god, he is injured seriously’ but he is OK and stable now. We have 15 points, 25 less than we need. After we get that, we will see what happens.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe: "There was no blame attached to Glenn Murray for missing a penalty, he was excellent today and he was the heartbeat of most of what was good about our team.

"He's a totally different player to Callum Wilson, he brings different strengths and we're going to have to mould ourselves around Glenn as we did with Callum. We tweaked things slightly today but we were still very effective."

  20. 'Today was a battle'published at 17:34

    Norwich 1-2 Leicester

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri: "For me, it's important to maintain the English spirit in the team. We have very good English players, but also the others.

"Today was a battle, we knew that after our defeat against Arsenal we wanted a good performance and I'm satisfied - I like it when there is a battle.

"I think there could have been a lot of penalties. On every corner a player takes a shirt and it was difficult.

"The second goal was fantastic because we knew Norwich were pushing hard and were very strong, so it was important to score again.

"But we created eight or nine chances and it was a good match for the fans."
