    Premier League to reduce?

Very, very early days on this story but Henry Winter in the Times today has a story that the FA are looking to reduce the Premier League from 20 to 18 teams.

The Times reports says that FA chairman Greg Dyke is keen on the idea to help the England national team and help English clubs in Europe.

The top divisions in England, Italy, France, Spain and England all have 20 teams - but the Bundesliga in Germany only has 18.

    What are your thoughts?

    Troy Deeney, WatfordImage source, Get

"This is the most important game of the season for Aston Villa. Lose this and if other results go against them, and they could be cut adrift.

"Here's the thing: Watford captain Troy Deeney was born and reared just a stone's throw from here. He's a Bluenose, he's got a Birmingham tattoo on his calf, and is it written in the stars that he scores the winner for the Hornets this afternoon?"

  8. Messi's rumoured move to Man Citypublished at 14:44

Manchester City v Southampton (15:00 GMT)

    Dion Dublin
Former Aston Villa and Manchester United striker Dion Dublin

“It can't be true. How can you pay someone that sort of money, I mean £800,000 a week? The rumours could possibly affect the fans, I don’t think the players would be affected. If it happens it happens and would be a welcome addition to the dressing room. At the moment, City have enough on their plate; they have to get back to winning ways and the rumours of a player like Lionel Messi coming in wouldn't be a big issue for them at all."

"City have had a blip, I am sure they will start winning games, they are too good to allow this to continue but they are not setting the world alight at the moment."

On goalkeeper Willy Caballero, who deputises for the injured Joe Hart.

"Caballero has to convince me, he does not command his box. The back four have been all over the place and is not settled and that makes a difference to the side."

Manchester City Manuel Pellegrini: "We need to recover, the leaders play after this game so it is important after the bad game at home to Liverpool that we win today".

Despite their off-field issues the Cobblers have taken 30 from a possible 39 points...

Where else to start but at Northampton? The Cobblers could cap a crazy week which has seen a protracted takeover finally go through and a £10m debt re-arranged by going top of League Two this afternoon if they beat bottom club Yeovil (and Plymouth and Oxford slip up).

Argyle are away at Dagenham - who won for the first time since September in midweek - and Oxford travel to Hartlepool.

Joining Yeovil in trouble in the relegation zone are York City - who are at home to in-form Accrington.

  20. Will Newcastle be affected by reported bust-up?published at 14:18 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2015

Crystal Palace v Newcastle (15:00 GMT)

    Neil Lennon
Bolton boss on BBC Radio 5 live

"I don't think there is anything wrong with training ground bust-ups every now and then and Steve McClaren will hope that the aggression on the training ground will transmit onto the pitch.

"I've had many bust-ups as a player and a manager and what you are looking for is a reaction."
