After a decent spell of Watford possession, Aston Villa finally nab the ball. Alan Hutton rushes down the wing with speed but he can't fend off Etienne Capoue and it goes out of play.

Watford then race forward but Villa's defence hustle the ball into the hands of Brad Guzan.

Twelve of the 14 league goals Watford have conceded this season have been scored in the second half of matches, amounting to a league-high tally of 86%.

But early doors in the second half they're pegging Villa back in their own half. Manager Quique Sanchez Flores will be happy with that.

But a victory here may inject a bit of belief that they can escape danger. A defeat and they will equal the league record for the lowest points tally after 14 matches of a season.

Close again by Villa. Ciaran Clark tries to slide onto the end of a Jordan Ayew flick from a corner but it goes wide and he narrowly avoids colliding with the back post. 

A lovely, dancing move from Scott Sinclair and Villa's top scorer has a punt from distance but Heurelho Gomes pulls off a superb save to tip over the curling shot.

 Heurelho Gomes is on hand again to keep Aston Villa at bay.

The Watford keeper twice denies Jordan Ayew, although the flag was raised by the linesman for offside. 

It's getting a bit wobbly again at the back for Villa.

Carlos Sanchez makes a mess of Brad Guzan's pass, allowing goalscorer Odion Ighalo to rush in but Micah Richards is on hand to clear. 

At the other end, Idrissa Gueye has a go from 25 yards with a curling effort but it goes wide.

Brad Guzan conceded four last week but the Villa keeper just pulled off a really decent save from Etienne Capoue from close range, after some good work by Troy Deeney.
