A corner in is cleared in a panic by Watford's Craig Cathcart after Scott Sinclair flicks goalwards. 

Micah Richards shows an injection of pace, and a well-timed run from Jordan Ayew sends Heurelho Gomes into action again. He saves well and Watford clear.

Watford captain Troy Deeney has a shot at goal but it goes over the bar.

At the other end, Carles Gil's ball in is punched away by Heurelho Gomes before Micah Richards finds Alan Hutton, but he's flagged offside.

A nervy start from Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan. His side earn a free-kick but he sprays it out wide to Carlos Sanchez, who knew very little about it.

They're keeping possession for now, though.

And we're off! Away side Watford get the game going, shooting left to right.

"Jack Grealish deserves his punishment, but he's a young lad with plenty of money and he got a few bevvies down him. Is it much of a shock? 

"There is talk about Grealish being sent out on loan, which I think would be ridiculous. He's still the most talented player at the cub. He knows he cocked up last weekend, but he's popular, he banters with the senior players and he's got a good personality. 

"He was a season ticket holder at the age of six - Villa is in his blood. I think we should cut him a bit of slack. He's not a poster boy for arrogant Premier League bigheads. And he is absolutely vital to Aston Villa."

It's not been a good week for young Jack Grealish. He's been banished to Aston Villa's Under-21 training sessions after reportedly partying in Manchester following his side's dismal 4-0 defeat by Everton last weekend.

Manager Remi Garde's dropped him from today's game as punishment. Can Villa cope without him in attack?

"Black Friday? Try Aston's very own Black Sabbath instead as a summation of most Villa weekends this season. 

Villa's largely wretched home form of the last four years has no excuse, and they surely need to score first in this one to keep the crowd even vaguely optimistic. 

With Watford, meanwhile, optimism abounds - even after back-to-back league defeats for the first time. 

Some thought they'd be where Villa are for much of the season, but we've seen enough from the Hornets to suggest that they won't be at any stage."

Mr Troy Deeney has been in fine form of late - if you forget his disastrous own goal which handed Manchester United victory last weekend, like I'm sure he wants you to.

Scott Sinclair is recalled to the starting XI for Aston Villa with the much talked about Jack Grealish dropped. Ashley Westwood makes way for Carlos Sanchez.

Watford make two changes with Nathan Ake and Juan Carlos Paredes coming in for Ikechi Anya and Jose Jurado.
