    FT: Middlesbrough 3-0 Leeds United

Middlesbrough striker David Nugent told Sky Sports: "We got off to a fast start against Forest (last weekend) and that seemed to help us out a little bit. Today we got the two early goals which gave us a nice lead.

"Leeds came back into it in the second half, they were the better team, but Diego Fabbrini killed it off with the third.

"We were grateful for that because Leeds were coming back into the game."

"Leeds passed the ball really well and caused us problems - more than other sides have here.

"It was a lively encounter and there were a few tackles flying in, but it was played in a good spirit and we're pleased to get the win."

Three defensive errors by Leeds, three Middlesbrough goals, three Middlesbrough points.

David Nugent netted the opener after 121 seconds and a comical own goal from Giuseppe Bellusci doubled Boro's lead before half-time.

Diego Fabbrini took advantage of Sol Bamba's slip to seal the win with nine minutes left.

Leeds will point to Mirco Antenucci's disallowed goal, with the score at 2-0, as a crucial moment in the match, but they were the masters of their own downfall at the back.

    Middlesbrough 3-0 Leeds United

Another Leeds mistake, another Middlesbrough goal, and Boro will get that fifth successive league win.

Leeds captain Sol Bamba slips as he attempts to play the ball out from the back, Diego Fabbrini accepts the gift and rounds goalkeeper Marco Silvestri before tucking the ball into the net.

Aitor Karanka's Middlesbrough are on course for a fifth straight league win.

As things stand, they'll go a point behind leaders Brighton and five points clear of Reading in third. Even at this early stage of the season, that's a decent cushion.

  12. Middlesbrough 2-0 Leeds Unitedpublished at 78 mins

Middlesbrough defender Daniel Ayala is booked for a late tackle from behind on Mirco Antenucci. A free-kick in a dangerous area for Leeds - Alex Mowatt is over it.

Straight into the wall, though. Another chance comes and goes.

Luke Murphy is on for Stuart Dallas for the visitors.

  13. Middlesbrough 2-0 Leeds Unitedpublished at 77 mins

Albert Adomah's work is done - Middlesbrough bring on the more defensive minded Emilio Nsue.

An Equatorial Guinea international coming on for a Ghana international. I doubt that's happened very often in the Football League before.

  14. Middlesbrough 2-0 Leeds Unitedpublished at 75 mins

Fair play to the Leeds fans, they have not shut up at all during this match. They're doing all they can to rouse their team, but the visitors are running out of time to chip away at that two-goal deficit.

  15. Middlesbrough 2-0 Leeds Unitedpublished at 73 mins

It's not Giuseppe Bellusci's day. The Leeds centre-back, scorer of a first-half own goal, tries a speculative pass out to the left touchline with the outside of his boot and succeeds only in finding the chest of Boro's Albert Adomah.

Boro substitute Diego Fabbrini then picks up a cheap yellow card for a cynical trip on near the halfway line.

  16. Middlesbrough 2-0 Leeds Unitedpublished at 70 mins

After Middlesbrough clear a corner, Boro midfielder Adam Clayton shows his combative side to earn a free-kick and ease some of the pressure on the hosts.

It's been a spirited second-half display, but Leeds are unable to find the breakthrough they need to get back into this one.

Middlesbrough appear content to soak up pressure and hit Leeds on the break, and they're doing it well thus far - Mirco Antenucci's disallowed goal apart.

  18. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 65 mins

    Middlesbrough 2-0 Leeds United

Leeds bring on Souleymane Doukara in place of Jordan Botaka. Doukara will be more of a target man up front instead of Mirco Antenucci, who has moved into a wider position.

Chris Wood is injured and not involved for Leeds today.

  19. Middlesbrough 2-0 Leeds Unitedpublished at 63 mins

Good defending by Leeds full-back Gaetano Berardi. With Stewart Downing sniffing around him, Berardi puts the ball behind for a corner.
