Game over. And it is a completely deserved Spurs win, courtesy of goals from Harry Kane and Dele Alli, against a seriously struggling Southampton.

Tottenham into the top, Saints staring nervously over their shoulder.

    Southampton 0-2 Tottenham

Southampton have suddenly come to life, way, way too late. Shane Long receives a chest down from Graziano Pelle but his shot is saved.

Then, at the other end, Son Heung-Min almost capitalises on an error from Paulo Gazzaniga before the home keeper recovers.

  3. GREAT SAVE!published at 90+3 mins

    Southampton 0-2 Tottenham

Oh, what a good save from Hugo Lloris! James Ward-Prowse gets forward to hit a pull-back from the left first time but the Spurs keeper gets down superbly to palm the ball away. Class from the Frenchman.

Four minutes of added time. Not that it will make a difference. Tottenham are leaving here with all three points.

    Southampton 0-2 Tottenham

I don't usually like to get stuck in to a team, but Southampton have been rubbish. They could play until Boxing Day and wouldn't score in this form.

Tottenham protect Harry Kane by whipping him off and sending on Son Heung-Min.

    Southampton 0-2 Tottenham

Southampton try to get in down the right but Kyle Walker mops up to clear any danger. Meanwhile, Harry Kane is down holding his knee on the halfway line. Spurs don't want to see this. Thankfully for them, he looks OK. Panic over.

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 85 mins

    Southampton 0-2 Tottenham

The Southampton fans are flocking for the exit as Tottenham send on Nacer Chadli for Christian Eriksen. Five minutes to go.

  9. Postpublished at 84 mins

    Southampton 0-2 Tottenham

It should be 3-0. Erik Lamela gets down the right and pulls back for Tom Carroll, whose low shot lacks power and is easily saved by Paulo Gazzaniga.

    Southampton 0-2 Tottenham

I can't see any way back for Southampton here. They have barely threatened this half against a Spurs side who look confident and comfortable. Cedric Soares illustrates this with an aimless long ball forward straight into the hands of Hugo Lloris. The only noise you can hear around the ground is the joyous singing of the Spurs fans.

  11. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 79 mins

    Southampton 0-2 Tottenham

Harry Kane is close to sealing this game once and for all as he slides in to try and flick a Christian Eriksen-delivered free-kick towards goal. The ball skips just a yard ahead of him, though.

That ushers another Saints change as James Ward-Prowse replaces Jordy Clasie and Spurs' first as the excellent Dele Alli is replaced by Tom Carroll.

    Southampton 0-2 Tottenham

Southampton's frustration is getting the better of them. In their desperation to get the ball they are giving away free-kicks and allowing Tottenham to boss possession. With just 15 minutes to go, it is going to take a Sixth Sense size twist to turn this game around.

  13. YELLOW CARDpublished at 73 mins

    Southampton 0-2 Tottenham

Dele Alli is in the thick of the action again, this time mis-timing a tackle on Juanmi to receive a booking. That is pretty much his only error so far this game.

Southampton corner. Straight to Hugo Lloris, who punches clear. Poor stuff.

Tottenham are managing the game really well, keeping the ball in the Southampton half and making the home side chase them. You can sense the last shreds of belief draining from the Saints.

Juanmi's first act is to foul Dele Alli on the right edge of the Saints box. Alli is having a cracker of a game. He is everywhere.

Erik Lamela shoots from the free-kick but it takes a deflection for a corner, which Christian Eriksen swings into space before it bounces out for a goal-kick.

Here come the inevitable changes for Southampton. Shane Long and Juanmi on. Dusan Tadic and Steven Davis off.

Tottenham are just looking to pick Southampton off when the home side lose the ball. Mauricio Pochettino's side pour forward and win a corner, but Christian Eriksen - who hasn't been at his best - delivers it straight into the hands of Paulo Gazzaniga.

We've been playing for an hour. Spurs totally in control, with no real sign of that changing. Southampton are battling, but they are getting nowhere. As its stands, Spurs are in the top four.

Graziano Pelle. There is a man who takes pride in his appearance. He walks towards the Spurs box like he is walking on to a yacht. His shot is high and wide, though.

A minute later, the Saints striker heads wide from a right-wing cross.
