Martin Keown in the Match of the Day 2 edit suite: "Arsenal get back into a five man midfield again without the ball. Similar to what they did against Bayern. Mesut Ozil is dropping into the five."

Manchester City just don't have anybody linking up midfield with attack at the moment. Nobody is showing for the ball when they have it in the centre circle.

The highest compliment I can pay that Theo Walcott goal? It's like the ones Thierry Henry would curl across and beyond the keeper so regularly in his trophy-laden years at the club.

"Arsenal's goal came completely against the run of play but Manchester City have hardly been posing a host of problems despite dominating possession and territory.

"Theo Walcott was once criticised for a lack of end product but that was something special and further evidence of his growing stature as a goalscorer."

Arsenal are snapping into the tackle, are first to every second ball and are just generally looking the better team. Manchester City need half-time more than the Gunners. They need time to regroup.

It's interesting that when Kevin de Bruyne almost put the ball into the net moments before Arsenal took the lead, the two Match of the Day pundits raised different points.

Phil Neville is quick to question why the Belgian doesn't square the ball to give David Silva an open net. "He's got to square it for a tap in," he says.

Martin Keown meanwhile is full of praise for Hector Bellerin who he says blocked off any cut-back.

In fact, Keown is happy with the way the entire Arsenal line re-shuffled after being caught out - crisis defending if you will. It proved key as the goal came quickly.

It's probably true of most teams, but Arsenal in particular always look a different outfit when they are in front. Like the Australian cricket team... they suddenly develop a swagger and a sureness about themselves which was missing moments earlier. City are rocking, desperately trying to bob and weave their way through this Gunners suckerpunch.

"What a fantastic strike from Theo Walcott - I didn't think that he had that in his locker. It was an absolutely brilliant finish out of nowhere - whipped off his right foot - and Joe Hart did not have a chance."

GOAL - Arsenal 1-0 Man Citypublished at 33 mins

    Theo Walcott

What did I say about Theo Walcott having Bacary Sagna on toast earlier? This time it costs City as the full-back stands off the winger, who is allowed to cut inside on to his right foot and thunder a beautiful goal beyond Joe Hart. And it's another assist for Mesut Ozil. Against the run of play... not that Arsenal care.

At this rate this match will be last on Match of the Day 2 tonight - even after all of Saturday's matches.

    Should score! No!

With two passes, slick City put Kevin de Bruyne through on goal but the Belgian drags a low shot wide with David Silva better placed to score on his left.

Moments earlier, by the way, David Silva was booked.

What's the term for a group of stewards? A cluster?

There's about 10 hanging about together near one of the concourses in the Emirates. They're all gathered round, it seems. What are they upto? Dishing out Secret Santa gifts?

"Arsenal fans getting very worked up at the generosity being shown by referee Andre Marriner. Kevin De Bruyne and Alexdandar Kolarov could both easily have gone into the book for poor challenges and there has just been another venting of fury as David Silva escapes after a foul on Mathieu Flamini."

Martin Keown in the Match of the Day 2 edit suite: "It seems like Arsenal are quite happy not to extend themselves too much, they seem happy to let them have it."

So far, City edge the possession.

"Do you think he'll be happy with the draw, Wenger?" asks Phil Neville. "It's not the way he thinks is it?"

    "No," replies Keown.

There's a lack of finesse about Arsenal so far. They play the ball out from the back nicely and work it out to Nacho Monreal on the left but the full-back's deep cross is fairly aimless and cleared by an unaccompanied Aleksandar Kolarov on the penalty spot. Too easy.

Is it me or do City have three men around Olivier Giroud whenever the French striker gets the ball? A huge mark of respect.

At the other end, Kevin de Bruyne cuts inside and fires in a low shot which is turned wide by Petr Cech.

Arsenal are happy to drop off Manchester City and allow them to have space on the ball. They are taking too much of a risk for my liking there.
