It's all over in Leipzig and Germany have done just enough to get the win and top the group. Don't they always do just enough?

They had a bit of a wobble when Georgia equalised, but Max Kruse came off the bench to nab the winner.

    Poland 2-1 Republic of Ireland

Robert Lewandowski is close to bundling in a third as Ireland have to push men forwards now. A corner, a free-kick, anything will do for the men in green but instead it's Poland on the attack.

Lewandowski is then tripped by Jon Walters and he is booked. Walters will miss the first leg of the play-offs. IF...

Ah he has to go there! John O'Shea is left as the last man and just hauled Robert Lewandowski down. A second booking and a red. No arguing.

    A final call:

A win in Poland and a place in the finals is the Republic of Ireland's.

A 2-2 draw and the Republic are there in place of Poland.

Defeat in Poland and it's the play-offs for the Republic.

Thomas Gaughan: Is there any chance that Ireland would go straight to France as best third-placed team?

Unfortunately not, Thomas. Hungary are currently the best third-placed team, but Ukraine can leapfrog them if they beat Spain tomorrow.

And for the real hardcore permutation fans among you, it's also possible for Turkey to do it, but only if they beat Iceland and Kazakhstan climb off bottom and above Latvia. Still with us?

Remember results against each group's bottom team are discounted when calculating this.

Don't be a Richard Keogh header away from qualification, Ireland. You'll never forgive yourselves.

Will they get another chance? If you're just tuning in after the Antiques Roadshow and Heartbeat, the republic of Ireland are into the final 10 minutes in Warsaw.

For reasons that we won't go into now for lack of time, a 2-2 draw will send Ireland to the finals of Euro 2016. One goal away...
