After a fairly timid first half, Bolton really improved after the break, putting pressure on the Brentford backline.

They scored their first goal from open play in over eight hours through Neil Danns but were unable to find a second when they were on top.

The 'tough times' are of course the news that broke this afternoon that the Bolton squad have not been paid in November, as well as sitting bottom of the Championship.

Bolton draw a seventh game at home this season and their winless run stretches to 12 games now. 

Neil Lennon's side battled back well in the second half and got a deserved equaliser through Neil Danns.

Brentford start the Dean Smith era with a draw as John Swift's curling strike in the first-half is they only goal the could muster.

Last ditch defending as Bolton get a couple of headers inside the box but neither them are clean connections.

Gary Madine tries to force it towards goal but Brentford get bodies in the way to clear.

Stunning reaching save from Ben Amos to prevent Brentford grabbing a winner.

Suddenly they turn on the style again as Sergi Canos, Alan McCormack and Lasse Vibe all combine and the Danish striker's shot is turned wide.

Bolton's spell on top has dissipated for now, but neither side is dominating. 

Lots of long clearances and trying to play down the other end of the pitch at the moment.

Jose Casado's free-kick is a good one but James Tarkowski does just enough on the outstretching Shola Ameobi to prevent the Bolton striker from getting his head to the ball.

Gary Madine is barged off the ball inside the box but he falls dramatically after taking too many touches.

It is worked into the box again to Darren Pratley and he battles with James Tarkowski to earn a free-kick on the left wing...

Sam Saunders' first bit of action is to deliver a free-kick which is well defended by Bolton.

Darren Pratley concedes a free-kick but Brentford are keen to get on with it and take it quickly.

Final substitution for Brentford as Alan Judge is taken off for Sam Saunders.

He was someone who still looked like creating something for the Bees but perhaps the fresh legs will help take the sting out of this Bolton momentum.

Jose Casado nearly gifts Brentford a second goal.

Lasse Vibe is putting him under all sorts of pressure but he defends well initially until his back pass is underhit, nearly giving the Bees a sniff of stealing it off Ben Amos.

Another deep cross into the boss and it's another Bolton corner. They're up to nine in the match.

Brentford eventually hack it away and they're really on the back foot still.

Brentford's goalscorer John Swift is taken off and Konstantin Kerschbaumer replaces him.

Moments later Gary Madine strikes towards goal bit it goes wide. Trotters boss Neil Lennon is not happy with that and he and Madine exchange some pleasantries.
