So what are your thoughts on the first 45 minutes?

Max will do well to try and recreate that John Swift goal in the bath...

  4. HALF-TIMEpublished at 45+2 mins

    Bolton 0-1 Brentford

A half-hearted appeal for a penalty from Bolton as Shola Ameobi falls over in the area.

The hosts launch a number of crosses in the box, can they finish with a flourish?

Not this time as the referee blows his whistle and Brentford lead at the break through John Swift's superb strike.

  5. YELLOW CARDpublished at 44 mins

    Bolton 0-1 Brentford

Another super, swift counter attack by Brentford.

Goalscorer John Swift goes down under a challenge by Josh Vela and that has to be a penalty... no!

The referee books him for diving and there is no protest. On the replay Swift is expecting the challenge which never touches him and he goes over far too easily.

  6. Bolton 0-1 Brentfordpublished at 43 mins

We've had Dean Smith, we've had Roy Keane and now former Manchester United manager David Moyes is picked out by the cameras at the Macron Stadium.

He's sat alongside his former assistant Alan Irvine, who is now working with Paul Lambert at Blackburn.

Neil Danns gets up to the edge of the Brentford area, but the Bolton midfielder is unable to use the time he is afforded because he slices across the ball with his strike.

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 41 mins

Eventually Bolton do make the replacement as Gary Madine replaces Max Clayton.

He's more of an out and out forward to will Shola Ameobi get himself a strike partner up top?

Bolton take their time in deciding who they want to replace Max Clayton and with 10 men they nearly concede another goal, as John Swift is free at the back post by his left footed strike is tipped over by Ben Amos.

Max Clayton hobbles off for Bolton with a nasty looking injury as he stretches for a challenge.

The former Crewe forward spent six months out with a knee injury last season and lets hope this isn't serious.

  12. GREAT SAVE!published at 36 mins

    Bolton 0-1 Brentford

Ben Amos saves Bolton from going two down.

Lasse Vibe is completely free in between the Bolton centre-backs and just as he opens his body up inside the box, the former Manchester United striker stretches out a left leg to stop the ball going in. Top save.

A Bolton attack ends with a swing-and-a-miss from Shola Ameobi.

Again Brentford break quickly and in numbers but Alan Judge's curling effort at the end of it is not quite up to the standard of John Swift's opener.

  14. Bolton 0-1 Brentfordpublished at 32 mins

Lots of pushing and shoving from both teams as Bolton swing in a corner.

Darren Pratley is away from the medley of players and as the ball falls to him he swings his left boot at it - a sweet connection but straight at David Button for the Wanderers skipper.

  15. Bolton 0-1 Brentfordpublished at 31 mins

Bolton do well again as Liam Feeney gets in on the right.

The winger's cross takes a touch on the way through and it just loops over the head of Shola Ameobi in the middle.

Yes, it was quite a move by the Bees.

  17. Bolton 0-1 Brentfordpublished at 29 mins

Now it's Brentford's turn to show what they can do going forward.

Goalscorer John Swift plays the ball wide and gets into the box - the cross finds him but he's just unable to direct the ball towards goal.

From the next attack Jake Bidwell gets in behind Bolton on the left and his dangerous drilled cross is just about dealt with as Ben Amos pounces on it after a couple of ricochets.

  18. Bolton 0-1 Brentfordpublished at 27 mins

Better from Bolton this as they launch a succession of attacks.

The best of which is when Darren Pratley's cross nearly finds Shola Ameobi at the back post but for John O'Connell's header.

Nothing comes from the resultant corner.

The onus is on Bolton to come out and attack and show a bit more quality. But that provides an opportunity for Brentford as they're capable of cutting you open on the counter attack.

Former Bolton striker John McGinlay, BBC Radio Manchester

A quarter of the game gone and not too much in the way of clear cut opportunities other than the goal.

Bolton knocking the ball around neatly at times but look a little light up top at the moment.

  20. YELLOW CARDpublished at 22 mins

    Bolton 0-1 Brentford

Mark Davies is immediately full of apologies as the Bolton midfielder goes in hard on Toumani Diagouraga.

It's a poorly timed challenge by the former Wolves man and he is booked.
