QPR win their second corner of the night and this time Royals keeper Ali Al-Habsi comes out and punches the ball away.

The visitors are slightly edging the latter stages of this half, but there isn't much in it.

The yellow-card count climbs above the shots-on-target count as Grant Hall's name goes into the referees book. The QPR defender handled the ball.

Just like waiting for a bus, we have another corner. This time Reading's Michael Hector is the target of a deep, out-swinging delivery but QPR clear.

Reading keeper Ali Al-Habsi thinks about coming to claim it in the air but, in the end, he leaves it, and the ball curls just out of play beyond the far post for a goal-kick.

He might be in the referee's notebook already, but Leroy Fer is at least trying to keep Reading's back four on their toes in attack.

He's switched with Junior Hoilett in the last few minutes with the Canadian going out wide left and then back again up top alongside Matty Phillips in a bid to make something happen.

No joy as yet though.

That flurry of activity was in stark contrast to the previous half an hour, which was dull to say the least. Is this game finally coming to life?

What's this? Two chances in a matter of seconds?

First, QPR's Junior Hoilett fires a shot straight into the arms of goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi.

Then moments later, at the other end, Reading's Nick Blackman is through but he drags his low, right-footed shot wide of the far post.

The Royals almost catch QPR out with a quick counter attack but Alex Fernandez's through ball from the left, aimed for the on-rushing Matej Vydra, is slightly too far ahead of him and the visitors escape.

Just realised I've got the last two rounds of Monday night's Only Connect to still catch up with on the iPlayer.

Victoria Coren Mitchell and her missing vowels round are starting to look considerably more exciting than what these two teams have served up so far.  

Pr - that's short for poor with the vowels missing.

Hosts Reading win a third free-kick in an almost identical position to the two that Oliver Norwood whipped in so dangerously a few minutes ago, near the right-hand corner of the penalty area, but this time the ball goes harmlessly long.

If Reading are going to win the three points tonight, one man likely to have a big say in proceedings is Nick Blackman.

He has been fairly quiet so far but he is having a season to remember.

At the other end, QPR's outlet appears to be Matt Phillips. The plan so far has been to try to get him in behind the Reading back four with balls over the top. 

It hasn't quite worked just yet but, with Phillips' strength and pace, he can be very dangerous.

Not massive amounts to pry one away from their normal Thursday night television so far in this one.

Wind and plenty of driving rain continuing to make life difficult for both sides.

Reading have a very fluid 4-4-2 formation so far, with Danny Williams drifting between the left and right of central midfield.

Reading's Oliver Norwood delivers a delicious free-kick into the box but Michael Hector's header across the face of goal goes narrowly, narrowly wide.

Moments later, from another set-piece, Norwood hurls another delivery into the box but QPR eventually clear the danger.

QPR, playing in their changed strip of red and black, have been slightly the more adventurous of the two sides so far but it's been tight.
