  1. goal

    GOAL - Norwich 1-0 Southamptonpublished at 16:31

    Alexander Tettey (74 mins)

And just like that, 10-man Southampton concede.

Alexander Tettey finds the top corner after a cut back from Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe.

  2. goal

GOAL - Sunderland 2-1 Aston Villapublished at 16:30 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2016

    Jermain Defoe (72 mins)

Goals keep you up, and Jermain Defoe scores goals. A simple equation which may keep Sunderland in the Premier League as the former England man twists away from another former England man Joleon Lescott and cracks in a left-footed shot which squeezes through at the near post.

    Carles Gil deserves better.

No goals at Carrow Road, but Victor Wanyama has picked up his second yellow card and he's sent packing.

Southampton have to cope for 20 minutes with 10 men.

Or maybe Arsenal are seizing that chance! The Gunners go ahead from a corner as Olivier Giroud nods on, Ayoze Perez goes to sleep and Laurent Koscielny crashes in the volley. A big goal at the top.

  5. Postpublished at 16:29

    Arsenal 0-0 Newcastle

Every time I look at the Emirates at the moment the ball is within 10m of the centre-circle. Not much happening, are Arsenal letting a chance to open up a gap at the top slip by?

  6. goal

    Gylfi Sigurdsson (69 mins)

It's all gone quiet at Old Trafford again.

  7. League One latestpublished at 16:27 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2016

Burton – who are second in the league – are still goalless against Blackpool despite being down to 10 men.

Coventry are romping to victory against Crewe, leading 4-0, while Chesterfield are also on course for a handsome win as they are 3-0 up with less than 30 minutes remaining.

League leaders Walsall though are in trouble, 2-0 down against Rochdale.

  8. 'It was a hell of a strike'published at 16:26 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2016

    Sunderland 1-1 Aston Villa

    Garth Crooks
Former Spurs striker on Final Score

“It was a hell of a strike by Carles Gil. It was an acrobatic strike. The ball seems to be going away from him, and he pulls the ball back, and it flies into the opposite corner of the net. It’s a superb finish.”

  9. Postpublished at 16:25

    Leicester 0-0 Bournemouth

You don't associate Bournemouth with gritty, backs-to-the-wall ground out results but that's what they need now. Down to 10 men, away from home against a top side. They are looking strong.

Into the last 22 minutes or so, Robert Huth has had a header on target.

  10. 'Terrific finish'published at 16:24 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2016

    West Brom 1-0 Stoke

    Chris Sutton
Former Chelsea & Norwich striker on Final Score

"It was a terrific finish from Stephane Sessegnon. He just elected to go for power and it flew into the back of the net. Stoke will do well to get back in this."

  11. CLOSE!published at 16:22

    Manchester United 1-0 Swansea

Andre Ayew with Swansea's best chance of the game.

The Swans' top-scorer gets in between two United defenders and powers a header goalwards but it comes off the post.

Seconds later, Angel Rangel is adjudged to have dived in the box and is booked.

  12. goal

GOAL - Sunderland 1-1 Aston Villapublished at 16:21 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2016

    Carles Gil (63 mins)

    WHAT A GOAL!!!!

An absolute beauty from Carles Gil! Aston Villa are level with a sensational counter-attack. Adama Traore shows his Barcelona pedigree by taking the ball from inside his own half, past two men and then past a third and standing up a cross from the right. It hangs in the air, Carles Gil is under it, it looks to be over him until a late adjustment sees him switch shape mid-air and then crash a left-footed volley into the corner.

Villa need it to bring more than a point, but that is exceptional...

  13. Postpublished at 16:20

    Sunderland 1-0 Aston Villa

Jermain Defoe has had a trademark wriggle and shot saved before Patrick van Aanholt slams a rising shot wide from 22 yards. The left-back has been Sunderland's most potent attacker today.

  14. 'I thought it was a great tackle'published at 16:19 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2016

    Leicester 0-0 Bournemouth

    Garth Crooks
Former Spurs striker on Final Score

“I thought it was a great tackle. Jamie Vardy is quick. He’s in front of Simon Francis, and the defender now has a choice to make. Is he going to tackle, or is he going to let Vardy get a shot in on goal. He chooses to make the tackle.

"He grapples with the player, but he makes contact on the ball. It’s bad enough to give away the penalty, I’m not sure the referee needs to send off Simon Francis. I have seen referees give the penalty and not send the player off. Where's the discretion?”

  15. Postpublished at 16:17

    Arsenal 0-0 Newcastle

Arsenal still look no closer to breaking the deadlock and the home crowd are growing increasingly restless. What an up-and-down side the Gunners are, a Forrest Gump box of chocolates.

Newcastle have been the better side this afternoon, much encouragement for them.

  16. 'That's the rule'published at 16:17 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2016

    Leicester 0-0 Bournemouth

    Chris Sutton
Former Chelsea & Norwich striker on Final Score

"He has to send the player off if he gives the penalty, that's the rule."

  17. goal

GOAL - West Brom 1-0 Stokepublished at 16:16

    Stephane Sessegnon (60 mins)

We asked for goals and Stephane Sessegnon has delivered for West Brom.
