Arsenal can go top with at least a draw at Stoke later today, but they start the day down in third behind Leicester and Manchester City.

That's because City closed the gap at the top of the Premier League by thrashing a lacklustre Crystal Palace side.

After a slow start from the hosts, midfielder Fabian Delph gave them the lead with a long-range drive.

Sergio Aguero doubled the advantage with an effort that deflected in off the head of defender Scott Dann.

And the Argentina striker finished off a sublime team move and David Silva added a fourth, with Palace winless in five league games.

Max Gee: Played in goal for my school team in an away game and there was every weather type imaginable! Freezing fog in 1st half - opposition scored past me when I didn't see the ball coming out of the fog! - sleet, rain and then sun in the 2nd! We won 12 - 6!

Steve Walmsley: Remembered trying to put goals up at our ground in Frithville and the goalpost Spike that holds the crossbar on snapping.. 30 minute trip to play at their ground at South Kyme We drew. But brrrr freezing.

Another line from the Chelsea v Everton thriller worth alerting you about is the injury sustained by Blues striker Diego Costa.

The Spain international was taken to hospital for a scan on the shin injury he sustained during Saturday's 3-3 draw.

The 27-year-old scored one goal and made another, but limped off in the 80th minute after receiving lengthy treatment. Oh, and after rolling back onto the pitch in comedy fashion (check out the video on Twitter).

"We don't know the result yet and I hope it's not bad," said Hiddink. "He was in a lot of pain."

To say Roberto Martinez was a bit peeved by Chelsea's late equaliser would be an understatement. The usually mild-mannered Everton boss was livid afterwards.

"Seven minutes of injury time, the last action happens in 97 minutes 51 seconds and John Terry is two yards offside," moaned the Spaniard.

"Maybe refs need a bit of help. But to have a player two yards off in the box is unacceptable.

"There is no explanation. It's a big, big error. It's not good enough."

The game of the day came at Stamford Bridge. Well I say game, more like the half of the day.

Little happened before the break, but the game exploded into life after half-time. 

Everton took a 2-0 lead as John Terry put through his own net and Kevin Mirallas rifled in.

Diego Costa reduced the margin and Cesc Fabregas's deflected shot made it 2-2.

Ramiro Funes Mori restored Everton's lead in the 90th minute only for John Terry to back-heel in a 98th-minute equaliser - although he was a yard offside.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe: "It was the perfect afternoon in many ways.

"Any win in this league is so valuable and the players produced an excellent, assured performance.

"We knew the importance of this month going into it and today is a big step. We've got Sunderland next week and the games just keep getting bigger."

Norwich manager Alex Neil said: "We didn't deserve anything from the game, but we won't start buying people left, right and centre just because we lost the match.

"The transfer plans are in place, and we don't make decisions like that on the back of one game.

"Bournemouth were the better side. We didn't do enough with the ball and we got caught out by a couple of things we spoke about before the game, so that's disappointing."

Could all three promoted sides stay up this season? It's looking good at the moment.

Two of those sides went head-to-head yesterday with Bournemouth easily overcoming relegation rivals Norwich City to move five points clear of the bottom three.

The Cherries led when Dan Gosling headed in Marc Pugh's cross.

Bournemouth wanted a penalty when Russell Martin held back Charlie Daniels in the area, and Norwich keeper Declan Rudd was fortunate not to be sent off for fouling Benik Afobe.

But Vadis Odjidja brought down Pugh to allow Daniels to score from the spot before Afobe rounded off the win.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino: "It was a good response to the Leicester defeat. I'm very pleased. We need to be patient.

"We had a lot of shots on target - their goalkeeper was fantastic. I feel very pleased in the last few games. The belief is fantastic. We have a very good, strong squad - today was a good example."

Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce: "Our players put themselves in one fantastic position and then in the space of a minute conceded. It's one of the reasons we ended up losing.

"I changed the shape but that didn't work. The scoreline, 4-1, looks more comfortable than it was."

The early kick-off saw (title-challenging?) Tottenham take on relegation-threatened Sunderland.

And Christian Eriksen scored twice as Spurs deepened Sunderland's relegation worries.

Patrick van Aanholt gave the Black Cats the lead against the run of play but Eriksen levelled as Lee Cattermole failed to clear on the goalline.

Mousa Dembele fired Spurs ahead before Eriksen's 25-yard shot deflected in off Sunderland debutant Jan Kirchhoff.

Harry Kane then converted a penalty after Kirchhoff fouled Danny Rose.

'Ex' team-mates? Does that mean Mario Balotelli, who is currently on loan at AC Milan remember, does not see himself going back to Anfield when his loan deal expires?!

So Liverpool v Manchester United takes centre stage today, with the action kicking off at Anfield in about four hours' time.

And after that we have the equally-important matter of Stoke v Arsenal. The Gunners need a point at the Britannia to shove Leicester and Manchester City out of the way and regain pole position.

That means you'd be well advised to nip out for breakfast, walk the dog, go for that run, whatever your Sunday morning entails, as soon as possible and follow all the footballing fun with us.
