  1. A race against time

A Swansea win and a positive way for Alan Curtis to hand over to Francesco Guidolin, but does the Italian truly know what he has let himself in for?

A record 29 managers in the top four English divisions were sacked in the first half of this season. Time is not a commodity managers have, and the pressure will be on him almost immediately.

That's all from us, but we'll back with coverage of tomorrow's FA Cup third-round replay action. See you later.

  2. Manager reaction

    Swansea 1-0 Watford

Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores, speaking to Sky Sports: "Disappointed with the result. I am really happy with the performance in the second half. The team came back to put in a good performance.

"I don't think we deserved to lose, but this is football. We are working in the same way, we are playing against amazing teams with amazing players. It is not easy to win but we don't like to lose four matches in a row. We know the target (40 points) is not far. I think we are close to winning."

  3. Manager reaction

    Swansea 1-0 Watford

    Alan Curtis

Swansea interim boss Alan Curtis, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was one of our better performances of the season. We could have done with the second goal but it is a huge three points.

"We needed to have a good start, we were down after three minutes against Sunderland, so the first goal is vital.

"The crowd played a huge part as well. Everyone is delighted and it is the start of a long road between now and the end of the season.

"I am sure the new manager will be more than pleased with what he saw. We need an experienced leader. We have put in some good performances but not got  the results. If he can use his experience to get the results then it will be good."

  4. Post-match facts

Reaction to come from the managers but while we wait, here's a few match facts for you to get stuck into.

    • The Swans secured their first win in their last four top-flight games and only their second in their last 12 (D3 L7).
    • After winning four Premier League games in a row, Watford have picked up just one point in their last five top-flight games.
    • Bafetimbi Gomis has been flagged offside 33 times in the Premier League this season, 12 more than any other player.
    • Swansea have hit the woodwork a joint-league-high 14 times this season (level with Arsenal).
  5. Post update

    Swansea 1-0 Watford

Ashley Williams added that he had to go on Google to find out about Swansea's new manager when he got wind of his appointment.

You weren't the only one Ashley.

  6. Post update

    Swansea 1-0 Watford

    Ashley Williams celebrates

Swansea captain Ashley Williams, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was massive for us, all the games are big for us now and we need to be picking up the points to move up the table."

That goal for Williams was his first at the Liberty Stadium for five years, and he added: "I was giving up hope going up on corners but I am just pleased to pop up with a goal and help the team get three points today."

  7. Player reaction

    Swansea 1-0 Watford

Swansea's midfielder Leon Britton, speaking to Sky Sports: "Today probably wasn't the prettiest of games but at this stage of the season three points are massive for us.

"When you have a new manager watching the game, everyone is out to impress of course. It has given everyone a lift.

"It is a big weekend because we dropped into the bottom three so we needed the win to get back out. A big lift."

  8. A worry for Watford?

    Swansea 1-0 Watford

    Watford

Four defeats in a row and one point from a possible 15 now for Watford. What's gone wrong?

You'd imagine their form over the first half of the season has done enough to keep them safe, but they are just eight points above the relegation zone.

Another defeat against Newcastle at the weekend, and things could start to get a bit nervy for Watford fans.

  9. Post update

    Swansea 1-0 Watford

    Mark Lawrenson

Ex-Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 live

    Troy Deeney

"Watford are a counter attacking team and once they go a goal down, and the team that has scored retreats, they find it really difficult to get back into it.

"They didn't fashion too many chances and Swansea dealt well with them in the end.

"I have forgotten the game already, though. It was that bad."

  10. Post update

    Ashley Williams and Alan Curtis

Alan Curtis is savouring this one. He is on the pitch, big smile on his face, and is making a point of hugging every single player.

  11. Post update

    Swansea 1-0 Watford

    Steve Claridge

BBC Radio 5 Live at Liberty Stadium

"I have no idea what Watford tried to do, except sit. There was so little reaction throughout the game and Swansea got the three points. To be fair, that is all that matters."

  12. FULL-TIME

    Swansea 1-0 Watford

    Swansea celebrate

It wasn't pretty but Swansea win for the first time since Boxing Day to move out of the relegation zone.

  13. CLOSE!

    Swansea 1-0 Watford

    Troy Deeney looks dejected

So close Troy Deeney! The Watford man chests a ball down on the edge of the area and volleys goalwards, but the ball curls just wide.

    Good finish to this game!

  14. HITS THE WOODWORK

    Swansea 1-0 Watford

Scrap that, Swansea are unlucky not to wrap this up as Bafetimbi Gomis hits the woodwork. The striker does well after losing his balance inside the area to retain possession but swipes an effort against the far post.

  15. Post update

    Swansea 1-0 Watford

Watford are cranking up the pressure as three minutes of injury time are shown on the fourth official's board.

    Can Swansea hold on?

  17. 'Terrible defending'

    Swansea 1-0 Watford

    Steve Claridge

BBC Radio 5 Live at Liberty Stadium

"That was a terrible header from Neil Taylor, heading it back into the danger area. Absolutely incredible. That's only missed by inches and that could have been costly for Swansea."

  18. CLOSE!

    Swansea 1-0 Watford

Oh a real chance for Watford to snatch an equaliser! It all comes about from a shocking 'clearance' by Neil Taylor, who heads weakly across his own area and Jurado pounces on the ball, shooting just wide.

Meanwhile, Mamadou Obbi Oulare is on for Watford, replacing Valon Behrami for the final few minutes.

  19. 'Many players have struggled'

    Swansea 1-0 Watford

    Steve Claridge

BBC Radio 5 Live at Liberty Stadium

    Sung-Yeung Ki

"Ki has been pretty peripheral. He hasn't made any real impression on this game. He's been one of many many players who have somewhat struggled tonight."

  20. Post update

    Swansea 1-0 Watford

    Dafydd Pritchard

BBC Sport Wales at the Liberty Stadium

"Swansea's fans are a supportive bunch, by and large, as their vocal backing for their struggling team has shown in recent weeks. But they have not taken to Bafetimbi Gomis this season. The Frenchman has lost his place in the starting line-up and has developed an unhelpful habit of being caught offside frequently.

"He was flagged twice within a minute of coming on tonight, the second of which was greeted with ironic cheers from the Swans' supporters whose patience is wearing thin."
