    FT: Brentford 1-3 Burnley

That is just about it from us this evening as Burnley's impressive first-half showing, and three fantastic goals, sees them win a third game in a row in all competitions and strengthen their promotion push.

Brentford battled back well after the break but it's now four straight losses for Dean Smith's side in 2016.

If you missed any of the action tonight, you can read Phil Cartwright's match report here.

It’s a tough place to come and we knew the reaction they were going to give us. What we’ve got in the dressing room is self belief and confidence that we can go all the way."

Great character shown by the lads again. I think we made Brentford look very, very ordinary for 45 minutes. Credit for them for the second-half comeback, but we deserved that."

Burnley midfielder Joey Barton, speaking to Sky Sports

    Brentford 1-3 Burnley

A brave response from Brentford in the second half, but it's job done for Burnley.

Eight goals in two games, they're two points behind the top two and coming into form at just the right time.

Jake Bidwell's cross nearly causes some problems for the Burnley defence - again, they do just enough and clear though.

Corner to Brentford, who do have a set-piece coach.

Burnley clear and anywhere will do as they look to close out the game.

  9. Brentford 1-3 Burnleypublished at 88 mins

A free-kick is hit deep into the Brentford half by Burnley.

It comes to Rouwen Hennings who blasts a hopeful effort five yards wide - Sam Vokes threw himself at it at the last second but didn't manage a touch.

A spectacular scissor kick from Jack O'Connell causes some momentary panic inside the Burnley area.

Brentford follow up that effort with a long range strike from Toumani Diagouraga which was never near the goal - the last time he netted was March 2013.

    Brentford 1-3 Burnley

Some of the crowd thought this was in!

Maxime Colin gets forward into the box and unleashes a drive into the side netting - Tom Heaton, in fairness, looked to have it covered.

  13. Brentford 1-3 Burnleypublished at 82 mins

It's possession football at the moment from Burnley - you can imagine them just doing this on the training ground.

From the strikers all the way back to the defenders and the goalkeeper, as long as they've got the ball at the moment they seem happy.

  14. Brentford 1-3 Burnleypublished at 80 mins

A barrage of noise from the home fans as they try to inspire their side to a big last 10 minutes.

Burnley goalscorer Joey Barton's deep cross drops kindly to Sam Vokes but he leans back and drills the ball over from inside the area.

  15. Brentford 1-3 Burnleypublished at 77 mins

Some Burnley possession just takes the sting out of the game for a minute.

But whereas everything was sticking when they put passes forward to the attackers, now Brentford's defenders seem to be on the front foot.

The hosts are doing their best to find a second.

A corner is only half cleared on a couple of occasions by Burnley with scuffed efforts coming in from Brentford. These attacks are certainly causing moments of concern for the Clarets.

  17. Brentford 1-3 Burnleypublished at 72 mins

Alan Judge's 11th goal of the season has given Brentford some hope of a comeback, but the game has just lost some of its tempo in the past few minutes.

Another goal needed for the Bees to make it interesting, 18 minutes remaining for Burnley to hold on and secure three points.

It seemed with every attack Burnley would score in the first half, but raids forward have been few and far between so far in the second.

A corner, though, comes in and causes Bees captain Jake Bidwell to make a very good clearance under pressure.

  19. CLOSE!published at 67 mins

    Brentford 1-3 Burnley

After two goals in two games, Joey Barton fancies a third as he unleashes a crisp drive from outside the area just wide.

Brentford make this final change as Nico Yennaris is on for on loan Chelsea man John Swift.

  20. CLOSE!published at 64 mins

    Brentford 1-3 Burnley

A free-kick on the left side of the pitch is fired in by Alan Judge and he nearly catches Tom Heaton out at the near post.

Burnley respond to this barrage by taking off Andre Gray for Rouwen Hennings, so still two strikers up top for the visitors.

So, no goal for Gray on his return to Griffin Park.
