Summary

  • Brentford 11th, eight points off top six

  • Burnley fourth, two points behind top two

  • All three Burnley goals from outside area

  • Brentford's Tarkowski refused to play

  1. Brentford 1-3 Burnleypublished at 61 mins

Some proper noise around Griffin Park now as the home fans get a sniff of a comeback with that goal.

Still Brentford shirts fly forward at every opportunity and the yellow shirts of Burnley are getting deeper and deeper...

A cross from the right finds Sam Saunders but the substitute heads just wide.

  2. goal

    GOAL (Judge)published at 57 mins

    Brentford 1-3 Burnley

    Well, well, well.

I said Brentford have been a transformed side and this is a fully deserved goal back.

Alan Judge expertly dummies and glides past Matt Lowton inside the box, and then fires in a powerful, low drive that is too much for Tom Heaton.

    Game on?

Whatever Dean Smith said at the break is certainly working.

Both of his full-backs, Jake Bidwell and Maxime Colin, are getting forward at every opportunity to support the attacks and getting in crosses.

This is the former Walsall manager's 11th game in charge of the Bees.

  4. Brentford 0-3 Burnleypublished at 53 mins

Brentford are certainly the dominant side at the moment.

Short, sharp passes between the men in red and white and they're looking more confident on the ball - Dean Smith's side are looking rejuvenated.

  5. Brentford 0-3 Burnleypublished at 50 mins

I know we're only a few minutes in but there already seems a better urgency about Brentford.

A series of crosses come in from both the left and right with Lasse Vibe having a header blocked by Michael Keane who won the aerial challenge with him.

It comes then to Alan Judge on the edge of the box but he pulls his shot wide.

  6. Brentford 0-3 Burnleypublished at 48 mins

    SignImage source, Rex Features

This is a sign outside Griffin Park - Brentford need more than the home crowd's cheers in the second half to escape with something here.

They've had no answer to a dominant Burnley in the first period.

  7. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 46 mins

    Brentford 0-3 Burnley

Brentford boss Dean Smith responds to their performance in that first 45 minutes with two substitutions.

Sergi Canos is off for Sam Saunders while Marco Djuricin is taken off for Lasse Vibe.

Dean Smith, you imagine, will have had some harsh words for his team in the changing room at the break, with Brentford struggling to impose themselves on the game in front of their own fans.

Just the 13 shots from Burnley in that first 45 minutes.

  14. HALF-TIMEpublished at 45+2 mins

    Brentford 0-3 Burnley

Well I can bet one or two Brentford fans were wishing they had had a quiet Friday night in rather than go and watch their side.

Second best to everything so far, but take nothing away from Burnley who have been fantastic.

Three stunning goals form the Clarets with Scott Arfield, Joey Barton and George Boyd netting.

Andre Gray wins the ball after a mix up in the centre circle between two Brentford players.

He lays it to the right wing where Joey Barton's cross comes back to Gray, but the former Bees man can only fire it over the crossbar.

So Scott Arfield, scorer of Burnley's first goal, now has two rivals in the "goal of the game" contest.

Note Andre Gray's reaction in the background of the above picture. Reminds me of this...

  17. goal

    GOAL (Boyd)published at 39 mins

    Brentford 0-3 Burnley

I don't think I can remember watching a more dominant half of football from one side.

A long free-kick into the area and Burnley forward Sam Vokes heads it down. Jack O'Connell opts for a stooping header instead of a clearance and George Boyd hits his shot on the volley, first time, into the bottom right corner.

So simple from the Clarets and you imagine that is that unless Brentford can improve dramatically.

Burnley attacking at will from both the left and right still.

Andre Gray's persistence gives George Boyd the chance to set up Sam Vokes who sees his shot blocked inside the area - Scott Arfield was free on the left but the Wales international opted for goal.

  20. Brentford 0-2 Burnleypublished at 34 mins

Dean Smith is right on the edge of his technical area asking his defence to push higher up as wave after wave of Burnley attacks come at his side.

A David Jones corner is whipped in from the right but Michael Keane is penalised to allow Brentford to clear.
