Wycombe v Aston Villa (12:45 GMT)

Now then, who's this nattily-dressed fella? Well that's the Wycombe Comanche, the club's lucky mascot. Can he bring Wycombe luck against Villa today?

Legend has it that the team purchased him after they survived relegation from the old Division 2 on the last day of the 1998-99 season. He's moved with the times though - he even has his own Twitter account., external

Wycombe v Aston Villa (12:45 GMT)

Jurgen Klopp may have bemoaned the pitch at St James Park last night but Villa can have no complaints about the surface at Adam Park. It's looking resplendent. Very un-FA Cup third round. Get it chopped up, lads. Make it a leveller.

Sheffield United's own record in recent seasons isn't too shabby either...

Against higher-ranked opponents, the League One side have won five of their last six ties.

For many it's the most exciting day of the footballing calendar, for others it's an occasion that fills them with dread.

FA Cup third round weekend is upon us and some of the top teams in the country will be hoping to avoid being this year's big story.

  9. Welcome to Adams Parkpublished at 11:44

Wycombe v Aston Villa (12:45 GMT)

What's bigger and better than a half-and-half scarf? A half-and-half banner of course. And Wycombe have wheeled one out to welcome Premier League strugglers Aston Villa to Adams Park.

  10. 'I'm going to be hiding behind the sofa'published at 11:41

Wycombe v Aston Villa (12:45 GMT)

I think ex-Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie might be a bit worried about his former club's trip to Wycombe...

"Going there at this stage of the season and the way the club is is quite scary. Wycombe could get a result today.

"It is the early kick-off. Everyone will be watching. Wycombe will be well up for it.

"I would be trying to change the structure of the team. They have to get used to playing against teams similar to Wycombe because they are going to be in the Championship next season.

On whether Remi Garde has made a difference since his appointment: "No. They have not won any games. I am not blaming him but I would have stuck with Tim. There has been no change really. The football is a bit better but pretty football doesn’t win you games. It needs to be more direct. Even the fans have turned on the club.

"I am going to be hiding behind the sofa today. If Villa go on a great cup run it might turn the fans a little bit but the thought of leaving the Premier League is heartbreaking."

  12. Eastleigh updatepublished at 11:36

    Eastleigh v Bolton (15:00 GMT)

Contrary to the confident tweet put out by Eastleigh earlier, we now have worrying scenes at Ten Acres.

These are just the kind of conditions that the home team will want the team to go ahead in. I suspect Bolton won't be quite so enthusiastic...

  13. Tin-foil shenaniganspublished at 11:34

Wycombe v Aston Villa (12:45 GMT)

We have a live feed of the build-up to the game at Wycombe currently on in the office and it's just shown a shot of a couple of young fans carrying the biggest tin-foil FA Cup of the day. It's a good five foot in length. You're gonna need a bigger fan.

  14. A 'bit of a laugh'published at 11:32

"At the start, we only entered it as a bit of fun really and on the social side of it to have a bit of a laugh," says Albany Hodgson, captain of 'Cambridge Utd', who won the under-16 females category of the 2015 FA People's Cup., external

"We just wanted to see how far we could get, but we didn’t think it would get that serious."

Here they are posing for a selfie after winning their category last May.

And no wonder they look happy - they'd just earned themselves tickets to the FA Cup final between Arsenal and Aston Villa as a result!

You’ve got just under a week to go to get involved in this year's competition. Entries – which are FREE for both individuals or teams – close at midnight on Friday, 15 January.

  20. No substitute for experiencepublished at 11:15

Wycombe v Aston Villa (12:45 GMT)

Brilliantly, Wycombe have named 46-year-old goalkeeping coach Barry Richardson on the bench for their FA Cup third-round tie against Aston Villa.

Matt Ingram's red card against Morecambe on Saturday means he is suspended for the match, allowing a start for 20-year-old Alex Lynch.

"We've got no one else we can put in there," said boss Gareth Ainsworth. "That's Wycombe, you get your chances."

Richardson last played a professional game for Doncaster in 2005.

In that Football League Trophy match against Cambridge, Richardson suffered a broken leg that has effectively ended his playing career.

Since then, he has been a regular unused substitute for Nottingham Forest, Cheltenham, Peterborough - including being on the bench for their 2011 League One play-off final - and Wycombe.
