England are playing well, it's just about having that little bit of composure in front of goal. Adam Lallana just snatched at that. Some of the movement has been excellent and they could have scored three or four times. Wonderful football from England.

Again, England open Russia up as Raheem Sterling breaks through, but he is tracked by Georgy Schennikov, who slides in to tackle and concede a corner, which again comes to nothing.

England go close again! Once more, it comes from the full-backs as Kyle Walker finds Adam Lallana in the box but his low shot is dragged past the far post. Seven shots now for England. They should really have taken at least one of them. No panic yet, though. At least the opportunities are coming - and from some lovely football as well.

England's full-backs are essentially wingers here. Danny Rose is again in the Russia half, picking up a pass from Sterling near the byline, but his cross is poor and easily cut out.

The first rendition of 'Football's Coming Home' echoes around the Stade Velodrome. These England fans like what they are seeing. And rightly so.

Oh, take a gamble! Danny Rose's low cross from the left runs across goal and only a few agonising yards in front of Dele Alli. Not quite Gazza against Germany close but had he been a few yards further forward, the Spurs midfielder would have opened the scoring.

England dominating possession so far, but Russia looking dangerous at times on the counter attack.

Russia do threaten. Sergei Ignashevich gets his head to the free-kick to send the ball towards goal where it is saved and claimed by Joe Hart.

Don't get too cocky, Danny. Rose gives the ball away in his own half and then concedes a free-kick. Chance for Russia to threaten.

There's not an England player that I think looks sluggish. Kyle Walker is seeing plenty of the ball. It's a been a fantastic start, all that is missing is a goal.

England are looking very confident. Roy Hodgson will be delighted with the start they have made. The word 'fear' is used a lot and it is linked with belief. There has been plenty of belief so far from England.

Russia are having to bust a gut to stay with England here. Eric Dier is hacked to the ground to prevent him launching another attack.

It is all England. They have another corner, which comes to nothing but is quickly forged into another attack that ends with Harry Kane blazing a shot from way out over the bar.

England look very confident.

To me that tells me something straight away: tell Raheem Sterling to stay wide and get balls in the box. Dele Alli had a free header there.
