  1. 'I drove all night'published at 19:07

Newcastle v Man Utd (19:45 GMT)

I didn't know Jonjo Shelvey was a fan of Roy Orbison/Cyndi Lauper. Here are some quotes from the England midfielder after he completed his move from Swansea to Newcastle...

"I'm very excited to be here. I'm so glad that it's finally done," Shelvey told Newcastle's website.

"I drove up through the night to be here so it's been a manic 24 hours but it's all been worth it to come here and play for this great club."

Shelvey does not feature tonight but he is at the ground. I've seen him in a hoody and everything.

Tell us your January transfer policy.....

Andrew James Grundy Smith If I was Villa chairman I would release a statement to the fans saying I will try and sort out the mess I inherited from Lerner. Then I'd buy some top Championship players in order to bounce straight back up

imothy Ingwer Callsen-Bracker do it the Chelsea way. send everyone out on loan and get rid of your best players (Lukaku, de Bruyne etc), and then wonder why youre struggling near the relegation zone

Daniel Shortall I would ring up Mike Ashley and ask him what he does for his club on a daily basis... Then I would do the opposite.

Bournemouth v West Ham (19:45 GMT)

Bournemouth’s club-record signing Benik Afobe starts for the Cherries, replacing Joshua King, in the only change to the side which drew 0-0 against Leicester in their last Premier League outing. New signings Lewis Grabban and Juan Iturbe are named as substitutes.

Slaven Bilic has made two changes to the West Ham side which beat Liverpool in the league, with Pedro Obiang and Dimitri Payet in for Cheikhou Kouyate and Manuel Lanzini.

Aston Villa v Crystal Palace (19:45 GMT)

The last time Aston Villa won a Premier League fixture was, wait for it, August.

Surely this run - by the law of probability at least - must soon end?

Their tally of eight points is the third lowest after 20 games of a Premier League season. Only Sunderland (six) in 2005-06 and Derby (seven) in 2007-08 had lower totals at this stage. Both were relegated.

It looks bitterly cold at all three Premier League games tonight. Winter is belatedly biting.

So, tonight we're asking what's your January transfer strategy? Do bargains still exist? Is it best to slap all of your budget on one key addition? Or spread it around with some loan signings, a mercenary or two from the Eastern Bloc?

Here's a couple of differing points of view from Swansea and Manchester United fans.

Ah. The last seven league meetings between Aston Villa and Crystal Palace have produced just 10 goals.

    So we're due some...

  12. 'I would love it'published at 18:53

Newcastle v Manchester United (19:45 GMT)

This fixture cannot and should not be allowed to pass without reference to Kevin Keegan and his "I would love it" rant.

As Manchester United closed in on the title in 1996, Keegan erupted for the TV cameras, stating he "would love it if we beat them".

In 2012, the line was voted the most memorable quote in Premier League history., external

And I'll tell you, honestly, I will love it if we beat them. Love it.

Manchester United quickly went on to seal the title.

Hands up for the Premier League?

There is a near-complete programme of Championship matches, with only Hull and Cardiff - who play tomorrow - cooling their heels for the evening. Where to start?

Well, Aitor Karanka's Middlesbrough - who still have a game in hand on the chasing pack - could build on their win over Derby in the pair's top-of-the-table clash last time out in the league.

If they win away to Brentford and the Rams come a cropper at home to Reading, their lead is suddenly a chasm-like seven points and the Premiership beckons.

Bottom of the table and in dire financial straits, Bolton could slip further into the darkness after a trip to play-off chasing Sheffield Wednesday.

There is a tasty Midlands, albeit slightly mid-table, encounter as Nottingham Forest entertain Birmingham at the City Ground.

Hear that? That's the sound of your local friendly football agent having his shiny new helicopter delivered.

If you're in the selling strikers business, then business is officially good.

Bournemouth have splurged £16m or so on a new front two, every other goalscorer in the Football League has just added a zero to their worth and the transfer window is all set to be as mad and manic as ever.

  19. Spending the penniespublished at 18:44

Bournemouth v West Ham (19:45 GMT)

Bournemouth have really fired a few gusts behind the transfer window kite this week.

A whopping £16m has gone out of the Cherries' account on two strikers - Benik Afobe from Wolves and Lewis Grabban from Norwich.

Grabban, 27, has played for Bournemouth in the past and left in 2014.

"I think we'll be getting a better Lewis Grabban," said Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe. , external "But he'll realise that we've got better as well and he will have to adapt too. We're in no doubt we're getting a good player back.

"He's also someone who was popular in the dressing room, behind the scenes he's a strong motivator and we're delighted to be bringing him back."
